Sophie's time on the island came to an unexpected end as she got voted out and sent to the Edge of Extinction with an epic blindside on Wednesday night.

'Survivor: Winners at War' Season 40 returned on Wednesday night for an all-new episode. This week we witnessed Tony get back to his old antics and dominate the game with his power moves and strategy. With that strategy, he also managed to get Sophie voted off during the tribal council.

The episode started off with Jeremy being upset that his ally, Tyson Apostol, getting sent back to the Edge of Extinction. As for Tony, he got ready to hunt for an immunity idol. Luckily, he found one and began his double agent game and has a fake alliance with Michelle and Jeremy. At the same time, he wanted to go undercover for Kim and Denise too.

He also won the immunity challenge this week, making it his second time in a row. Prior to the tribal council, it was only Michele and Jeremy's name that was being thrown around to be voted out. But Tony arrives with a third option and laid down Sophie's name. Apart from that, it was pretty much a quiet day at camp.

Arriving at tribal council, the castaways wasted no time in casting their votes. Reading them out, Jeff Probst revealed that Michelle had two votes, Jeremy and Sophie had three votes each. The last vote was for Sophie, which meant she was voted off.

The shock on her face couldn't be more evident. The castaway who won the previous season she was in had no idea where to put her torch, and how she got blinded. But what shocked her the most was that she had an immunity idol and didn't play it. She had no idea she was being targeted.

She bequeathed her fire tokens to Kim and Sarah. Watching Sophie make her way to the Edge of Extinction, fans on Twitter got upset. Some said the castaways deserved better than a blindside.

"I'm so sad for Sophie Clarke, my Queen deserved so much better! She killed it this season! Props to her for her performance. Such a pleasure to watch, she came back and proved she was a rightful champion. #Survivor," a fan wrote. While another shared, "If there was any thought or care on the editors part of giving a proper storyline to sophie, I wouldn’t be nearly as upset watching tonight’s ep. it’s a GREAT EP!! But Sophie deserved a better edit and story, PERIOD. #Survivor40 #survivor."

"So very sad to see Sophie go home on an episode that she was so quiet on. She was playing such a great game that deserved more. #Survivor," a fan said. Adding to that another shared, "Well Tony just fell back to the bottom of my list. Jeremy too. This vote broke me.. Sophie deserved better. #survivor #survivorwinnersatwar."

"Sophie has played so well, she deserved to sit at that final tribal council #Survivor," a fan wrote.
