Supernatural Season 15 Episode 9: Sam and Eileen finally kiss a bittersweet goodbye

Most of the fandom isn't a fan of this love subplot and now with larger things coming up in the storyline, it does make sense for this one to end.

It was a very tough episode for both Sam Winchester and Eileen Leahy, especially after Chuck made Eileen stab Sam multiple times inside his supernatural/never-healing wound. Chuck considered it poetic for Eileen to hurt Sam since Sam's always been so protective of her. If that wasn't enough, Eileen was also forced to hurt Dean, something she obviously never wanted to do. And while all this takes a toll on Eileen, so much so that she bids goodbye, the two end up locking lips in a sweet moment and Sam says, "I know that was real."

Poor Sam's never had luck in love right from the time his college sweetheart was burned alive by a demon and Eileen was a sliver of hope in all the mess. She showed up in the Winchester brothers' life in Season11 and the two had chemistry right off the bat but it wasn't tensed enough to be romantic. Then the show went off and killed Eileen only to bring her back again this season after Sam had made peace with her death. Can someone cut Sam some slack, please?

Anyway, Eileen is left questioning what is real since Chuck reveals he had planned for her to come back from the dead and had set up Sam to do the spell. She had been but a pawn in Chuck's big chess game with the brothers. The kiss was both heartfelt and conveyed a thousand words about how the two felt. But, with everything that they have coming up with Chuck, she thinks it's best to walk away.

Most of the fandom isn't a fan of this love subplot and now with larger things coming up in the storyline, it does make sense for this one to end. We think these two would be so much better off as friends and hopefully, she will help the boys out when they get ready for the big fight with none other than God himself.

'Supernatural' airs every Thursday at 8/7c on The CW.
