'Supernatural' Season 15 Episode 18 Preview: Castiel might die when Death comes knocking on Dean's door

Fans are worried about that bloody handprint on Dean's jacket shown in the trailer that could be a reference to the angel's death. Could this be the last episode we see Castiel on the show?

Only three more episodes to go. Richard Speight Jr., who fans know as Archangel Gabriel and part-time Trickster, will be directing Episode 18, which is troubling titled 'Despair'. The official synopsis of the episode states: "With the plan in full motion, Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles), Castiel (Misha Collins) and Jack (Alexander Calvert) fight for the good of the common goal."

While the synopsis is vague, we do get some juicy moments from the upcoming episode in the preview trailer. Jack is on the verge of death with the energy he has consumed eating away at him from the inside. So Sam, Dean and Castiel are trying to save him. But that doesn't mean they have forgotten about Billie aka Death. In the last episode, they learned that Billie wanted to become the new God and take control once God and Amara were taken care of. Dean, as we know, hates being the pawn of Heaven, Hell, and anyone in between. So he is suitably pissed about Billie using them to clear the field for her ascension. He sounds mighty grim when he says "let's reap the reaper".

It seems that for this episode, the brothers will step away from the conflict with God and focus on the clash with Billie instead. The problem as Dean puts it, "anyone who has been resurrected, Death wants to kill them all" -- which means bye-bye to everyone they have managed to secure a second life for, including themselves. Castiel is quite firm when he says, "then we fight". We see some pivotal scenes that include Billie visiting the slowly-combusting Jack. We also see her wandering in her library, wounded among the stacks. It seems Team Free Will will be able to injure her but she will escape. But, being wounded will only make her even more dangerous. We see people evaporating in clouds of flame and ash as Death stalks the hallways with her scythe. She blasts open a door to see Dean cowering with a blood handprint on his jacket. She tells him, "The plan has changed, I like to see you dead."

The good news among all the despair is that we will see Team Free Will expand a little in order to take down Billie. We see Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver), Donna (Briana Buckmaster) and Charlie Bradbury (Felicia Day) join Sam, Dean and Castiel to help with their plans.

But fans are also worried about that bloody handprint on Dean's jacket that looks a lot like the handprint he has on his body from when Castiel "gripped him tight and raised him from perdition". Could this be the last episode we see Castiel on the show? Misha Collins who plays Castiel has increased those fears because he has gone on record saying that the episode is "monumental, it's tragic, it's, I think, pivotal. It's a sad episode." And to say its a "sad" episode when the end is nigh means someone quite central is going to die.

'Supernatural' Season 15 Episode 18 airs on Thursday, November 5, at 8 pm ET on The CW.
