Ironically, for an episode titled 'Unity', Team Free Will is kinda falling apart. In the last minutes of last week's episode, Dean (Jensen Ackles) told Sam (Jared Padalecki) what Castiel (Misha Collins) had told him earlier. The truth bomb that Jack (Alexander Calvert) was going to die taking out Chuck (Rob Benedict) and Amara (Emily Swallow) leaves Sam very angry that Dean is hiding things again. Like Castiel, he has a problem with Jack dying.

On the other hand, Jack already knew he was destined to die because Death aka Billie (Lisa Berry) had told him so. He is mentally prepared to sacrifice his life and Dean agrees that Jack's sacrifice is necessary. But Castiel wants to save Jack and by the looks of his reaction in the last episode, Sam does too. So it isn't surprising that the synopsis for the upcoming episode states that there will be a "difference of opinion" about how to handle the matter. It states: "Dean hits the road with Jack, who needs to complete a final ritual in the quest to beat Chuck. A difference of opinion leaves Sam and Castiel behind looking for answers to questions of their own."

The trailer shows that Dean and Jack are going to get some help from a very famous Biblical character -- no less than the first man himself, Adam. In the opening beats of the teaser, we see Alessandro Juliani (Dr Cerberus from 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina') introduce himself to Dean, saying, "I'm Adam. First dude off the assembly line," with Dean replying, "Garden, apple...that Adam?" Juliani plays Adam as a middle-aged hipster, prone to saying things like "dudes, chill". According to the trailer, the first man will be their last hope as several things had to happen for them to reach this point. Obviously, Adam will be helping Jack complete the final ritual that will give him his last power up before his fight with Chuck.

It is a little less clear what Castiel and Sam will be up to in the bunker. But we do see them open up some fiery door in one of the walls of the bunker. Where that door will lead is anyone's guess. We also see Amara make a brief appearance as she looks to the skies (for Chuck?) but it is unclear what she is up to. It is very likely that she is rendezvousing with Chuck.

Dean might be thinking that he is playing Amara, but Amara could just as well be playing him. Both Dean and Amara have one thing in common, they believe in blood and family, no matter how much they fight with their siblings. If Amara decides to double-cross Dean, rather than be a pawn in the fight things will only get more interesting. This is especially so since she vaguely knows what the Winchesters have planned for Chuck and can tip him off.

'Supernatural' Season 15 Episode 17 airs on Thursday, October 29, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
