Supermodel Elle Macpherson says today's models need to 'get off the pedestal' and 'come back down to earth'
Elle Macpherson is one of the most popular and celebrated supermodels of the 90s and has been featured on the covers of Vogue and Sports Illustrated as well as several other magazines.
The Australian supermodel who is also known as "The Body" recently shared that times have changed in the modeling industry especially with the rise of social media.
She shared with the Daily Telegraph, "I think that the models that have been able to transition in this period… have been the girls that have been willing to get off the pedestal, and come back down to earth, and start working with businesses that really resonate with them."
"So that they can talk about who they are and what they believe in, in everyday ways, instead of having to be like a rock star," she added. She also spoke about how in the past, the more you were disconnected from the public, the more successful you became, which is quite the opposite nowadays.
Macpherson has seen a very successful career and has built an empire estimated to be worth $95 million. She discussed how back in her day, models had to do everything. "You were a hand model, a foot model, swimwear, runway, TV commercials. If you wanted to earn money, you had to be versatile."
She also spoke about how at the time she started modeling, the rise of the "supermodel" was also happening and it became very powerful. Very recently, Macpherson had launched a line of plant-based elixirs along with her business partner WelleCo.
The stunning Macpherson had previously spoken about how she has never undergone surgery to maintain her enviable features. While appearing on 'This Morning' in 2018, she had shared that she had not got any plastic surgery and liked a 'natural-looking' face.
Macpherson further spoke on the show about how proud she is of her body and shared about how it has changed over the years.
