The CW released the preview of the March 22 episode of 'Supergirl'. Titled 'Alex In Wonderland', the episode sees Chyler Leigh's Alex Danvers enter into the world of virtual reality again.

With this, the season continues the Obsidian tech storyline and also establishes how technology may have its adverse effects going forward in the series. One of the realities Alex sees is her suiting up as Super Alex, a superhero version based on Kara Danvers aka Supergirl (Melissa Benoist).

Alex's storyline after 'Crisis On Infinite Earths' has taken a major turn after she quit as the Director of DEO and moved on to assist J'onn J'onzz (Davide Harewood).

With 'Alex in Wonderland', the season is giving us the third filler episode of the season after Jesse Rath and Nicole Maines had theirs right at the start of the post 'Crisis' season.

The official synopsis reads: ALEX TAKES ON A NEW ROLE – Alex (Chyler Leigh) uses a pair of Obsidian contact lenses to visit a virtual National City where she takes on a whole new persona. Meanwhile, Kelly (Azie Tesfai) helps William (Staz Nair) investigate Lex. Kara (Melissa Benoist) deals with difficult news. Tawnia McKiernan directed the episode with story by Rob Wright and teleplay by Jess Kardos and Mariko Tamaki."

According to comicbook, Robert Rovner, one of the EPs, had spoken about the season bringing in the tech storylines during last year's San Diego Comic-Con.

"This season will be about how technology impacts us and how people use it to escape from what happens in their lives," Rovner said. "We're seeing how our villains use technology against us, and our heroes try to bring us back."

"What we're looking at is how technology is impacting the way people engage and giving them an escape not to engage," Rovner added. "It seems like nowadays, everyone is kind of on their phones or not really present, and so we wanted to speak to that and kind of how it might be hard to live in the ugliness of what's going on, and how a character like Kara can try and help us overcome that. It speaks to a lot of the stuff the characters will be going through."

What are your thoughts on Alex's new avatar? 'Supergirl' airs on Sundays at 9 pm ET/PT on The CW.
