'Supergirl' Season 5 Episode 15: Could Kara's new flame William Dey be another villain on the rise?

Kara is falling hard for William Dey, but he could be just using her for his own reasons

Kara Zor-El's (Melissa Benoist) love life is all set to blossom again after being dormant for over two-and-a-half years (in her words). Her ex-flame Mon-El (Chris Wood) had to, unfortunately, stomp over her heart and make his melancholy exit from the show in Season 3. Sigh. Karamel fans are never quite going to come to terms with that, are they?

Over the past couple of seasons, Kara has been quite busy to have a romantic relationship. Apart from the multiversal crisis and its repercussions, there are villains pouring in from the skies, including the mysterious Leviathan, Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) and just...maybe...her ex-BFF Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath). Well, you never know, Lena might just come through for Kara and realize that she has been unecessarily harsh (read: murderous) towards her.

So in short, Kara hasn't exactly had time for any dates. But lately, the show writers have been pushing our Supergirl towards a certain William Dey (Staz Nair), who works in her office. Fans have been rolling their eyes at this hint of a romance for a while now, but clearly, this link is waiting to happen. Initially, Kara was hesitant about dating him, as she was afraid that not revealing her secret identity would lead to another miserable scenario, just like it did with Lena. But then she was like, 'Eh, chuck it', after he pursued her even after she said no (more eyerolls). In the latest episode, Kara decides to go on a date with William and is running around looking for the perfect color to wear on their date.

She's falling for him for sure. But does he really like her, or is he using her to get close to Supergirl and then betray her? The way we see it, there's absolutely no chemistry between them and for sure he could be written off quickly. He's barely got a discernible personality trait and could honestly seem better as a uni-dimensional villain. For all we know, a heartbreak could be waiting for Kara soon. What if William was working for Leviathan? Now THAT would be fun.

Kara seems to be better off on her own now (Supercorp fans would disagree). Does she really need a romantic interest?

'Supergirl' airs on Sundays at 9pm.
