'Supergirl' star David Harewood teases new super suit for Martian Manhunter
It has been quite a busy season for 'Supergirl'. While Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) and Lena Luthor's (Katie McGrath) friendship suffered a rift as Lena discovered that Kara had been hiding her super identity from her for a while. There was also the constant tension between Lena and Andrea Rojas and the Medallion of Acrata. In the middle of all this, the threat of the deadly organization Leviathan showed itself in and then the 'Crisis' struck and shook everything up. Earth-38 was destroyed was resurrected as Earth-Prime. Here, J'onn Jonzz the Martian Manhunter (David Harewood) played a crucial role in bringing down the Anti-Monitor.
But it seems like there is more action coming his way as the Martian manhunter will be getting a new super suit. 'Supergirl' star David Harewood tweeted on March 9 sharing a photo of the Martian Manhunter's familiar red-accented suit but introduced it to fans as the new suit: "New supersuit coming soon!"
Harewood had earlier mentioned how the Crisis would completely change J'onn. "The Crisis affects everything, and it's going to affect J’onn. One of the wonderful things about playing J’onn, and playing the Martian Manhunter, is understanding how deeply the philosophy of the character runs," Harewood had said before 'Crisis'. "It really is a deep character. It's been great fun to kind of explore it as an actor. One of his fundamental abilities, one of the Martian's fundamental capabilities, plays a very, very important role in the Crisis. It is specifically because he is the Martian Manhunter, that he's able to sit to survive the Crisis. But it will affect him in a fundamental way."
It's not entirely certain when the new suit will debut. In the next episode of 'Supergirl', J'onn, Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) and Kelly Olsen (Azie Tesfai) will try to save a man from a virtual reality room. For all we know, this heroic occasion might call for a new suit.
'Supergirl' airs on Sundays at 9pm, CW.
