'Sugar Rush Christmas': A Candyland for dessert fans, Netflix serves this holiday special baking competition series just right

Over 6 episodes, 24 teams of 2 bakers each competed with one another to create decadent masterpieces and only 6 teams walked away with the 10,000$ prize

Silky confections with a surprise liquor center, coated with rich buttercream, sprinkled with chopped dried fruits — Christmas arrived early, all thanks to Netflix's holiday special baking competition show 'Sugar Rush Christmas'.

The show brings your regular sugar rush, albeit with a festive twist and a whole lot of red and green.

Over six episodes, 24 teams of 2 bakers each competed with one another to create decadent masterpieces and only six teams — Caitlyn and Sabrina, Kevin and Mayra, Jackie and Rachel, Christina and Tasha, Diane and Toni, Katlin and Jim — walked away with the 10,000$ prize.

For any amateur baker and or someone who could nail it at 'Nailed It!' (a baking competition series that encourages novice cake-makers to create a wide range of sweet treats), it was all very perfect-looking and from the looks of it, delicious too.

From multiple-layer cakes resembling an ugly sweater to a full-blow Christmas tree complete with ornate decorations, an advent calendar cake, delicious bourbon tarts wrapped using edible sugar bows and much more — 'Sugar Rush Christmas' is a dessert fan's Candyland.

One could get diabetes just by watching it — it's all too sugary. Also, that's the whole point of the show!

The themes were all Christmas-y. At first, you would wonder how would anyone experiment with such a widely-used theme? Trust the professional bakers to come up with something cool and out-of-the-box each time.

It was amazing how they could cook up something new and novel with such an overused theme. However, each episode focused on just one aspect of Christmas such as the nutcracker, Christmas carol and Santa Claus.

Judges Hunter March, Candace Nelson, Adriano Zumbo, Liza Koshy, Amirah Kassem, Donal Skehan, Jeanine Mason, Tiffani Thiessen, and Mery Davis chipped in with their valuable inputs on what they'd like more in their preparations and how they could improve going forward.

In a nutshell, it was an impressive six-episode competition series that celebrated the best of the bakers and also set the bar for any competition series like this. Catch all-new episodes of 'Sugar Rush Christmas' on Netflix.
