LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: All episodes of 'Sugar' are now streaming on Apple TV+,  and fans can't stop buzzing about the show that had them on the edge of their seats throughout its entire run.

Created by Mark Protosevich, 'Sugar' boasts an impressive cast that includes Colin Farrell, Amy Ryan, Kirby, James Cromwell, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler, and Anna Gunn among others.

'Sugar' follows the journey of John Sugar (Colin Farrell), a private investigator trying to find Olivia Siegel (Sydney Chandler), the granddaughter of a famous film producer Jonathan Siegel (James Cromwell).

'Sugar' is directed by Fernando Meirelles and Adam Arkin, featuring characters who contribute to the narrative by either aiding John in his pursuit of Olivia or complicating his journey. Here are all the characters ranked.

1. John Sugar

In Episode 6 of the series, it's revealed that John Sugar (Colin Farrell), is not human. Despite this revelation, he embodies more human qualities than most actual humans throughout the story.

He exudes compassion and consistently refrains from violence as much as he can. His relentless determination to locate Olivia Siegel drives him to extraordinary lengths.

John is portrayed as a brilliant detective, exceptionally observant, and constantly searching for clues in every corner. His obsession with the truth and unraveling mysteries drives him relentlessly forward.

As he delves deeper into understanding humans, John becomes increasingly vulnerable and emotionally engaged. He finds himself drawn to Melanie (Amy Ryan), whom he trusts with his biggest secret.

2. Melanie

Melanie (Amy Ryan), embodies the role of a confidante throughout the series. She helps Olivia Siegel in the early stages of the series and exhibits deep concern regarding her disappearance.

She stands as an ally for John Sugar, readily assisting him when he needs it most. In Episode 6, when he is injured, he turns to Melanie, who spares no effort to help him. She forms a bond with John Sugar, who trusts Melanie with his deepest secret.

3. Olivia Siegel

Olivia Siegel (Sydney Chandler), is depicted as an extraordinary individual who goes above and beyond to fight for justice.

She demonstrates remarkable courage by opposing her own family's interests when she encourages a victim to stand up against her half-brother David Siegel's sexual offense.

Despite enduring immense suffering throughout the series, Olivia exhibits courage. In the end, she bravely assists John Sugar in uncovering the true culprit.

4. Margit

Margit played by Anna Gunn, is the mother of David Siegel (Nate Corddry). Though she plays a role in concealing David's wrongdoings, one can't help but sympathize with her after David's death.

Like many other characters in the series, Margit also possesses a dark side, and her actions are undoubtedly questionable. However, when it comes to her role as a mother, she leaves no stone unturned to protect her son.

5. Jonathan Siegel

James Cromwell portrays Jonathan Siegel, a famous movie producer who is the patriarch of a wealthy Hollywood family.

Despite his success, Jonathan harbors his secrets, and his indifference toward his son Bernie Siegel (Dennis Boutsikaris) is inconsiderate.

Indeed, despite his flaws, Jonathan Siegel demonstrates genuine concern and empathy when it comes to finding Olivia.

His decision to hire John Sugar underscores his dedication to resolving the mystery surrounding her disappearance.

6. David Siegel

David Siegel embodies an antagonistic character as he attempts to thwart John Sugar's investigation. He is portrayed as a spoiled, entitled individual with a history of offenses against women.

While his character and actions are unforgivable, his death stands as perhaps the saddest moment of the series.

Despite his guilt and self-inflicted death, one can't help but feel that David Siegel deserved a second chance at life, an opportunity to strive toward becoming a better human being.

7. Ruby

Kirby as Ruby in a still from the series 'Sugar' (@AppleTV+)

Ruby (Kirby) serves as John Sugar's superior, and he places complete trust in her, only to be betrayed. She deliberately withholds information from Sugar and keeps him away from Olivia's kidnapper.

In the final episode, it is revealed that she was aware of the kidnappers from the outset but kept this vital information from Sugar due to orders from her superiors.

However, this justification falls short in our eyes, and she cannot be excused for her actions.

8. Henry

Henry (Jason Butler Harner) is depicted as Sugar's trusted doctor. However, in the final episode, it is revealed that Henry was present when Ryan Pavich (Cameron Cowperthwaite) kidnapped and tortured Olivia, all the while making notes.

We also discover that Henry is responsible for the kidnapping of John Sugar's sister, Djen (Maeve Whalen).

His involvement in this crime and betrayal of our beloved John Sugar undoubtedly make him the least-liked character of the series.
