A California "Karen" brandishing a stun gun was seen telling a Black family that they're "acting like Black people" in a "White neighborhood". "Karen", a term coined in the US, is used for a White woman perceived to be entitled and privileged.

A Black family, who was living in Discovery Bay in California, spoke to ABC7 regarding an incident involving a White female neighbor who demanded them to "stop acting Black". The woman, identified as Adana Dean, approached the family of Gerritt Jones who had lived in the neighborhood for 12 years. The family had never had any issues with the woman who lives across the street from them. Adana had approached the family while carrying a stun gun and had told them: "You know what? You guys are acting like Black people and you should act like White people." She then added, "You’re a Black person in a White neighborhood and you’re acting like one why don’t you act like a White person in a White neighborhood?" Jones spoke to the publication and revealed, "Unfortunately that’s the reality of being Black in America."

In shocking footage, the "Karen" is heard telling the family that she had been raised in Oklahoma City "where there are tons of Black people." When Jones' sister, Jarielle, questions the woman, she responded saying, "You’re acting like people who aren’t normal." The footage was then shared on Twitter by Jarielle who captioned it, "Part 1: Discovery Bay, CA. I am TIRED of living this way. I am TIRED of passive aggressiveness. I am TIRED of the fake smiles. I am TIRED that I don’t feel safe in a house that I’ve lived in for 10+ years cause of the color of my skin." In the Twitter thread, Jarielle added, "This woman charged after me and my brother multiple times with a taser, got in our face, yelled racial slurs at us SO YOU GOD DAMN RIGHT IM GONNA MAKE HER FEEL THIS S***. Can’t even feel comfortable in my own damn house. White ass amerikkka."

Many social media users slammed the "Karen" and showed their support for Jones and his family. One such user shared, "I live super close to you guys . You see how nice we are ? We try to reason with people like this all the time & they just keep pushing . This is crazy . She literally did all of this for no reason ... she’s gonna walk up on the wrong porch one day." Another added, "I can’t belive people like this live in my home town I’ve lived in discovery bay since I was 7 years old and this is one the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen and too know this intolerance is so close too home Is just repulsive!" Yet another commented, "Somebody’s gotta come scoop up grandma before she starts tazing away. My man was calm as f**k trying to get her to leave, I definitely would not have been as patient."

While being in the very uncomfortable situation, Jones managed to keep his cool and said being calm was important. "She had a stun and if my sister or any of them got physical with her the story would’ve been here this Black family assaulting just White lady in the streets," Jones shared. The family decided to speak out about the incident as a learning lesson for others. "I want my son to grow up and be proud of who he is. I hope that people all over the country learn from this, see that this can’t be tolerated," Jones shared.
