Tom Wlaschiha's Dmitri was one of the characters slated to make his debut in 'Stranger Things' Season 4, and the second episode 'Vecna's Curse' sees the German actor make his maiden appearance in the hit Netflix horror drama. The episode sheds light on Jim Hopper's (David Harbour) fate, and how he manages to survive the Battle of Starcourt. While there were theories that he went through the portal, it is eventually revealed that Hopper escapes the explosion only to be captured by the Russians.

Fans will remember Wlaschiha from Amazon Prime Video's 'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan' Season 2 where he played Max Schenkel, a contract killer, and a former BND officer. In the Netflix show, he plays a prison guard who goes by the name Enzo Dmitri. His character was described by Collider as "a Russian prison guard who befriends Hooper during his imprisonment. Described as smart, cunning, and charming, the question for Dmitri is can he be trusted as Hopper plots his escape."

Dmitri is introduced as Enzo midway into the series after Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) gets a Russian doll that has a message concealed. It reads that Hopper is alive, and also has a contact number for her to call. She enlists Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman) to help her out, and together they set up a call. Despite the contrasting theories, they manage to get through the call where Dmitri tells him that he needs $40,000 to free Hopper from "being stuck".

Eventually, Joyce plans to head to Alaska where she can meet Dmitri and free Hopper. There's just enough interaction between Hopper and Dmitri to deduce that there might have been a friendship. But can Dmitri deliver even if Joyce meets his demands? Only time will tell.

'Stranger Things' Season 4 is available for streaming on Netflix.
