Melania smiling next to Barack Obama has Internet taking jibes at Trump: 'Donald is not going to like this'
Ever since she became the first lady, Melania has had to battle rumors of her failing marriage with President Donald Trump many times, with many unproven reports referencing her lack of her smiles in his presence as evidence that she is not happy being POTUS' better half.
As a result, when she was seen laughing her heart out in a moment captured at the funeral of former first lady Barbara Bush in 2018, where the Donald-less mother-of-one was seated beside former President Barack Obama, gossipmongers and social media trolls had a field day dissecting the throwback photograph and poking fun at it.
“I think Melania should also congratulate #PresidentsDay2020 to Obama, since she is happier at a funeral with him than literally anywhere with Trump,” the user who originally dug up the photo captioned her tweet.
Steve Silberman, author of “NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity,” made a similar observation, adding that it was really rare for stony-faced Melania to seem relaxed and smile like she was doing in the picture.
“This is Melania and Obama sitting together today at former First Lady Barbara Bush's funeral. Have you ever, ever, EVER seen Melania smile like this, and look this relaxed, beside her own husband? Ever?” he wrote.
Soon others joined in, putting their own spin on the old photograph.
“Melania looks happier at a funeral than she has in ages. Wouldn’t you too if you went from being with Donald every day to sitting next to Barack? #barbarabushfuneral,” one commented, while another tweeted, "How miserable is Melania? Chorus: 'How miserable is she?' She is so miserable, the first time we have ever seen her smile is when she is attending a funeral without her husband."
Some of the online trolls jokingly suggested that Trump was not going to like the fact that Melania was enjoying a free-spirited laugh with his predecessor, who he has considered his rival from before his presidency started.
“Melania, usually stone-faced, is seen smiling for the first time in a while next to Barack Obama. Donald is not going to like this picture. RT!” one said, while another wrote, “Do NOT tweet this photo to @realDonaldTrump. He'll hate knowing that the first time Melania cracked a smile in years was during a quiet chat with Obama."
