Spoilers for 'Station 19' Season 3 Episode 9 'Poor Wandering One'

"Everyone is fighting a battle," Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) tells Maya Bishop (Danielle Savre). "This is yours." At Station 19, everyone is fighting a battle and not everybody will win. As the episode begins, Maya requests a meeting with Andy and Robert Sullivan (Boris Kodjoe).

Confronting Sullivan about his decision, she says, "I think you made a mistake," and adds, "Andy Herrera deserves the job you gave me." The gesture startled Andy and she didn't know what to say. Sullivan, however, told Maya to continue in her position for the time being.

There is a big twist when an Army veteran named Kyle (Josh Kelly) threatens to blow up a pawn shop. The reason is simple: He comes to collect back his knife sold for $20 but the store owner wants double the price. When the two guys get into a scuffle, Sullivan tries to reason with the veteran and reflects on his time as a Marine to deescalate the situation. Kyle confesses how he suffered traumatic brain injuries and Sullivan opens up about his Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Andy hears him out.

Andy also informs the entire situation to Maya who was supervising it from outside the shop. While at her job, she gives a good fight when the new fire chief, Michael Dixon (Pat Healy), gives her a hard time. Dixon wants his son to be taken away from the scene but Maya strongly resists it.

After a long talk with Kyle, Sullivan saves the day but Dixon threatens Maya to jeopardize her career if she puts her son in danger again. Meanwhile, Vic Hughes (Barrett Doss) and Dean Miller (Okieriete Onaodowan) try to reason with a man battling Alzheimer's disease, and Pruitt takes a stand to honor fallen firefighters who had cancer. In another touching scene, Ben Warren (Jason George) tells Pruitt to tells his dead daughter, Danny, he loves her if he meets her in heaven.

The episode ends with a heart-to-heart conversation between Andy and Maya. "When I'm made captain, it’s not going to be because my friend gave me her job," Andy lovingly tells Maya, indicating that they are still friends.

It is clear how the two miss being roommates. Just as they seem to be bonding, Sullivan interrupts their conversation to tell them that Rigo Vasquez (Rigo Sanchez) is no more. How did he die? It is explained in the following 'Grey's Anatomy' episode when Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) tells Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) that he threw a pulmonary embolism right before he was going to be released. With another key character gone, what will happen to the firefighters and how they will deal with his death?

As more episodes of 'Station 19' air every Thursday on ABC at 8 pm ET, only time will tell what lies in the future. For now, we're scared for all characters named with R. A couple of episodes ago, Ryan Tanner lost his life and no one can ever replace the hole created by Lucas Ripley!
