Spoilers for 'Station 19' Season 3 Episode 12 'I'll Be Seeing You'

Even death has a heart. And that's just what 'Station 19' unpeels in what could be one of its most excruciatingly heartbreaking episodes. Titled 'I'll Be Seeing You', the ABC show sheds light on love and unbreakable bonds. As the show wades its way through emotions and tragedy, it bids goodbye to a beloved character.

Starting on an intense note, the episode shows how the Station 19 crew battles a storage facility fire with growing complications. Dr Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) pops over from Grey Sloan and ends up collaborating with old pal Ben Warren (Jason George).

Pruitt Herrera (Miguel Sandoval) bonds with his old buddies. Emmett Dixon (Lachlan Buchanan) finally convinces Travis Montgomery (Jay Hayden) that he still wants their relationship to go on. And when Travis goes to check the building's roof, he finds out that if someone stepped on it, they would fall through.

As the flames rise, all the Station 19 firefighters are trapped inside. The suspense builds and it makes you wonder who is going to lose their life this time around. If the impending fear beating through your heart was not enough, the mushy moments between Andy and Sullivan — as they share their deepest, darkest secrets — will keep you engrossed.

One particular scene that will stay with you is Pruitt's conversation with his daughter Andy in glimpses of the wedding he may never be able to attend. Confronting her, he blatantly tells her, "I don't understand the rush." But Andy is sure. She tells her dad, "Robert makes me feel... Not a lot of men do that." In the very next scene, Pruitt takes the plunge and leaves a message for Andy with Maya. "Tell Andrea that every single thing I did her whole life, I did because I love her," he says.

Pruitt gets on top and starts hammering down the plank on the roof. He goes on and on until he falls into the fire. Like a hero, Pruitt sacrifices his life for his fellow mates and that's just the most valiant act you would have ever seen on the show. It makes you relive Shakespeare's words: "Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once."

And if that wasn't tear-jerking enough, his poignant conversation with his daughter Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) will ring in your ears for days to come. His death wasn't surprising, it was expected, especially with his cancer threat but it is only poetic that the showrunners let the old man die like a warrior instead of a weakling on the hospital bed.

Directed by Daryn Okada and written by Anupam Nigam and Meghann Plunkett, the episode ends on a somber note as the song 'Make You Feel My Love' by Sleeping At Last plays. The firefighters are all safe, but it will take a lot of strength for them to battle the huge loss.
