'P-Valley' Episode 5 Preview: Promo shows Mercedes in jail while Uncle Clifford wakes up with Lil' Murda
'P-Valley' Episode 5 'Belly' is a highly anticipated one with cast members and writers tweeting that it was one of their "favorite" episodes this season. The synopsis for the episode reads: "Two foes find themselves trapped together for a weekend under unlikely circumstances. Keyshawn reaches new heights, and Lil’ Murda glows up big time."
Keyshawn aka Miss Mississippi already had her 'glow up' moment in Episode 4 after she took over from "OG" Mercedes on the stage and delivered a stunning performance. Even the misogynist patron who tried not paying her at the beginning of the episode was offering her up stacks of cash.
Let's just say, Keyshawn needed this. Her self esteem had hit rock bottom -- that was evident when she told Mercedes that she is not "strong" like her, "just pretty". Episode 5 will bring her more good news as it seems she is reaching "new heights".
It still remains to be seen though if Mercedes will return to Pynk and if Keyshawn will have to deal with not being in the spotlight again. The trailer for the next episode was posted by Brandee Evans who plays Mercedes in 'P-Valley'. Mercedes will be the one trapped with her mother, Patrice Woodbine, in jail, and more sparks are bound to fly since they are both locked in the same cell from the look of things.
They are the "foes" the synopsis refers to, who are trapped together during the weekend. Mercedes cuttingly tells Patrice, "They say Jesus come like a thief in the night. They ain't met them no Patrice Woodbine."

Time for the aftermath to unfold. Watch things play out on an all-new episode of #PValley this Sunday on @starz. #PvalleyStarz pic.twitter.com/nR5ALEsH9z
One of the advance pictures released by Starz shows Gidget, Keyshawn, Autumn, and the other girls gather outside 'Vale's 24/7 Bail Bonds' that shows Mercedes' friends haven't abandoned her and will gather to help once she calls from jail.
Other hostilities will also rear their head. We see the mayor threaten Uncle Clifford saying, "I can cut you out," as Uncle Clifford shuts his eyes, distressed. With so much on his plate, he will also try to push away Lil' Murda.
We see a shot of Uncle Clifford waking up with Lil' Murda. Then we hear Lil' Murda asking him why he's acting like "nothin' happen last night" to which Uncle Clifford has only one response -- "Me and you ain't meant for the outside". We aren't quite sure what Lil' Murda's "glow up" is going to be about but it could be that his song finally gets the audience he has been seeking.
We also see a glimpse of Keyshawn's boyfriend/abuser Derek, as she tries to convince him that her spotlight "pays the bills, that's it". He asks her menacingly, "you sure that's it?" Keyshawn is obviously enjoying her moment in the sun and Derek probably realizes this. Since no abuser likes it when their prey gets a little dose of self-confidence, Keyshawn might get beaten up once more.
We also see a more dangerous side to Autumn which shows that she isn't above murder. As Gidget muses what she would do if someone took all her money the way Patrice stole Mercedes' money, Autumn doesn't even pause before she says, "Kill 'em".
But it's a relief to see Autumn finally getting along with the girls. She shows up when the girls gather to bail Mercedes out. She certainly has enough cash floating around. In another picture released by Starz, we also see Autumn spend some one-on-one time with Mercedes. Once these two forever-battling divas join hands, the world had better watch out.
'P-Valley' airs on August 10 at 8 PM ET on Starz.
