Spoilers for 'Stargirl' Season 1 Episode 13 'Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E.'

Though 'Stargirl' has just ended its first season, we're already looking forward to Season 2. Season 1 has set up a lot to look forward to, with a lot of teases seeded in for the last episode. There is currently no release date, and with the pandemic making production dates an uncertainty, there's no telling how long we'll have to wait for its return, giving us plenty of time for speculation. Here are the top five things that we're looking forward to seeing once the series returns.

5. The Seven Soldiers of Victory

Though Sir Justin (Mark Ashworth) has not yet regained all his memories of being the Shining Knight, he's regained enough of his faculties to be able to set out on a quest of his own. He mentions that he's going to look for the "soldiers" — referring to the team that, in this universe, preceded the Justice Society and was the first team that Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) and Sylvester Pemberton (Joel McHale) were on. Their existence has been mentioned offhand by Pat, but in Season 2 there's a chance that they might actually make an appearance. In the comics, the Seven Soldiers of Victory were scattered through time after one final battle, to be reunited once the Justice League and the Justice Society teamed up to find them. A time travel episode to reunite the soldiers would be an amazing thing to look forward to in Season 2, but an appearance by the team would work just as well.

4. The Return of Starman

There are still a lot of unanswered questions regarding Stargirl's (Brec Bassinger) legacy that have only been hinted at. Where did the Staff come from? How did Starman first receive it? Most importantly, how is Starman alive again, when we last saw him die in front of Pat's eyes? The last-minute reveal that Sylvester Pemberton had come back to life was a major revelation. Though Courtney no longer believes Starman is her father, he's still a hugely important part of her superhero identity, and his appearance on the show promises some major revelations for Stargirl herself.

3. Shade

While the Injustice Society have all been imprisoned, defunded or killed, there is one member of the original team who is yet to make an appearance — the Shade. One of the most morally grey villains attached to the Starman legacy, the shadow-manipulating Shade is a fascinating character whom we look forward to seeing in live action. This will be his first real live action appearance and we can't wait to see what the show does with the character.

2. Eclipso

This ultra powerful entity trapped in a black diamond shard was one of the biggest revelations to come out of the season finale. Cindy Burman (Meg DeLacy) retrieves the shard from among the Injustice Society's many trophies. Eclipso is a force to be reckoned with, one who could easily take over the world once given his full power. The fact that the ISA had his shard in possession but never used it means that there are some dark powers even they are afraid to tamper with, and Cindy has just unleashed it on an unsuspecting Blue Valley.

1. Beth Chapel's character development

Beth Chapel (Anjelika Washington) has been criminally underserved this season. While nearly every major hero and villain got their own origin story featured in an episode throughout Season 1, Beth's was tacked on to Rick Tyler's (Cameron Gellman) acceptance of his own Hourman legacy. What's more, her entire powerset revolved around the goggles of Dr Midnite (Henry Thomas). The voice of the original Chuck McNider resided in those glasses and Beth's entire purpose in Season 1 appeared to be asking the goggles for advice and doing what Chuck said. With Chuck tragically killed by Icicle (Neil Jackson) and the goggles destroyed, Beth is going to have to find a new way to be a hero - one where she relies on herself and not an artificial AI that does all the work for her.

All episodes of 'Stargirl' are now available to view on DC Universe.
