It has been almost five months after the release of 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' and Daisy Ridley is still coming to terms with the backlash the film received.  Despite raking in some massive moolah at the BO, $515.2 million domestic and $1.0 74 billion worldwide, the final part of the Skywalker trilogy was met with mixed response and was rated only 52% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The 28-year-old star who appeared on the DragCast podcast spoke on the backlash the film received. "Like 98% it’s so amazing, this last film it was really tricky. January was not that nice. It was weird," Ridley said. "I felt like all of this love that we’d sort of been shown the first time around, I was like, 'Where’s the love gone?'."  The actress also added that she had watched 'The Skywalker Legacy' the documentary included as part of the film's home video release and said: "It's so filled with love".

She continued: "I think it’s that tricky thing of when you’re part of something that is so filled with love and then people don’t like it. You know, everyone’s entitled to not like something, but it feels like it’s changed slightly. But I think in general that’s because [of] social media and what have you." Ridley forayed into the 'Star Wars' franchise when she played Rey in 2105's 'The Force Awakens'. She followed it up by reprising her role in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi[ (2017) and 'Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker' (2019).

The star also shared her thoughts on how social media has altered with fans sharing their opinions and reactions on multiple platforms. And while she said she wasn't on it, she "just wouldn't tweet about it". However, Ridley added she was proud to be part of the legendary franchise. "It’s been tricky but then it’s having that thing of I feel really proud of it and I’m so thrilled to be part of it."
