It looks like the 4/20 celebrations started a bit early for Twitterati. "Space Jesus" began trending in the early hours of April 20 and it's all kinds of hilarious.

If you're like us, you're probably scratching your head over who or what "Space Jesus" is. If you were to go by the 'Star Wars' fandom on Twitter, you'd think it's Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi, as played by Ewan McGregor in the prequel trilogy but that's not where the trend started.

It all began when DJ / producer Jasha Tull aka Space Jesus live-streamed a set on Twitch. Fans started tweeting about it, so much so that it became a top trend in the US, but after a point, mainstream Twitter started wondering what exactly "Space Jesus" is. And that's when the 'Star Wars' fans stepped in.

By the time of the writing of this article, a number of Space Jesus memes have already hit Twitter depicting Obi-Wan as Jesus. One of the most popular images shows Obi-Wan holding Baby Yoda like a saint with the Christ child. Here's what Twitterati has been saying about the whole thing. "Space Jesus is trending and the normie twitter thinks it’s a Star Wars thing lol," one user tweeted.

"DO YOU HAVE A MOMENT TO TALK ABOUT YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR, SPACE JESUS?" another user tweeted, along with a gif of Obi-Wan saying "Hello there".

One user shared an image with some pot captioned, "It’s 4/20/20. Space Jesus is trending. How else can you start off one of the most important days of the year? Especially while under quarantine?"

"God damn it! Someone check on us Americans, we are not okay," another user wrote. "Only during quarantine, you’ll see “Space Jesus” trending. Wtf is Space Jesus?"

"Happy 4/20 Space Jesus, praise be," another user declared alongside an image of Obi-Wan and Baby Yoda. "I love that movie with Space Jesus where he quits heroin by cold turkeying it and stealing money from his angry drunk Scottish friend and gives some to his other friend named Spud," one user tweeted before adding, "Wait this isn't Ewan McGregor? F***."

About a minute (and we're assuming a quick look over the trend) later, that same user tweeted, "Aand nvm it is."

Finally, one user suggested it may be time for someone else to take on the mantle, another icon of the 'Star Wars' franchise, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) himself.

It's 4/20/2020 and Space Jesus is trending. This is definitely one of the weirdest years in all human history.
