Star Wars Day 2020: Yoda's tragic fall from respected Jedi master to racist ketamine addict

Let us try to treasure the memory of the Yoda we once knew and not the Yoda he eventually became, no matter how hilarious it may be

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there lived a Jedi master of great renown. His origins are shrouded in mystery but the name of Yoda is the stuff of legend.

He was a symbol of hope and peace throughout the galaxy until a devastating addiction to ketamine turned the hero into a monster. It is believed that the grief over the loss of his compatriots may have turned him to the ways of drug addiction but whatever the causes, a drug-addicted racist he became.

Okay, all kidding aside, Yoda's ketamine addiction is one of the most hilarious and simultaneously problematic memes to ever hit the internet. It all started when Redditor u/angstyteens uploaded a screenshot of a Discord conversation in which a user going by the name "yoda gaming" talks about planning to consume a lethal amount of the drug ketamine to the subreddit r/fakehistoryporn. You can check out a spoken version of the conversation uploaded to YouTube by Random Gmod Vids here.

The meme quickly caught on and created a number of derivations. And as memes mutate, they tend to get more and more problematic.

Eventually, Redditors on r/LegoYoda started posting a number of memes of Lego Yoda talking about running over minorities in his 2001 Honda Civic. Quite a few of the posts had to be removed for racist content but bans never stopped a meme did it?

More recently on April 20, 2020, a video was posted to YouTube of an adolescent Baby Yoda from 'The Mandalorian' smoking weed and/or other space drugs, and fans immediately started talking about how he's one 2001 Honda Civic away from turning out like the old master. Despite all that he's done for the galaxy, Yoda is in danger of being remembered forever as a ketamine addict and a racist with an obsession for affordable and energy-efficient automobiles.

And so on Star Wars Day, we take a moment to reminisce about the heroic figure that Yoda once was and his tragic descent into racism and drug addiction. Let us try to treasure the memory of the Yoda we once knew and not the Yoda he eventually became, no matter how hilarious it may be.
