After delivering an intense and action-packed 'Star Trek: Picard' episode last week, the writers decided to change it up a bit and lean into the emotional side of the characters and delve deep into the nostalgia of 'Star Trek' lore.

We saw two very special characters — Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis) — and that was enough to bring tears to fans's eyes.

Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Soji (Isa Briones) decided to pay a visit to them on the planet Nepenthe. Soji is still reeling from Narek's betrayal as well as the knowledge of being an android. Yet, the Rikers's warmth and comfort ease the pain slightly.

Fans were delighted at this reunion and couldn't help but flood social media with their reactions.

One fan tweeted, "Picard needed to visit Deanna and Will. They know him too well." Another wrote, "Watching the latest #StarTrekPicard episode....I like it...got some Tingles from this episode and I love seeing Riker and Troi again. I need to have some Pizza for Lunch today. Riker The Pizza Man....."

"Just give me an At Home With the Rikers series already," tweeted another fan.

A fan wrote, "My 'non-spoiler' thoughts on the new episode of #StarTrekPicard: what a great dose of Trekstalgia, flavored with a bit of #BunnyCorn. Bravo to the entire Troi-Riker family; for their performances *and* their home security system."

"May or may not have happy-cried through more than 50% of #startrekpicard this week. All the feels! And good god, the writing!"

An emotional fan wrote, "Tonight's #StarTrekPicard. Wow. Most powerful episode I've seen so far. So moved by the performances of @jonathansfrakes  @Marina_Sirtis, and @JonathanDelArco Even more than I expected to be. Thank you for giving these characters so much life and heart."

'Star Trek: Picard' airs on CBS All Access, Thursdays at 12:01 am.
