It's the moment all Trekkies have been waiting for. CBS-ALL Access 'Star Trek Picard', starring Patrick Stewart, and fans are flooding social media with appreciation and praise. There were some mixed reactions too as some fans don't seem to have been entirely impressed with the premiere.

'Star Trek Picard' revolves around Jean-Luc Picard (Stewart), who has decided to isolate himself from the Federation and lives far away from the Starfleet, in the vineyards of his beloved France. However, he is coaxed into intergalactic action, once again that involves some of his old friends and foes.

One fan gushed, "Well done @SirPatStew! #StarTrekPicard is outstanding. Your approach to #Picard at this point in the character’s life feels spot on. The show is very well produced, the storyline immediately interesting, and the visual effects are excellent. I highly recommend it."

There was much wow-ing at Picard's mastery of French. "Picard just spoke French and I think my heart stopped for a moment!" exulted another fan.

One fan wrote that this is exactly what they wanted, and was a relief after 'horrible' show 'Discovery'. "Thanks to @wilw and the producers of #StarTrekPicard for their after-show #TheReadyRoom - it’s light years better than the horrible and insulting Discovery after show. THIS is what fans want. A host that asks the questions fans would ask while treating our show with respect."

'Star Trek: Picard' was peppered with nostalgia and references to 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', which made fans quite happy. "Just finished watching in the U.K. on @primevideouk (It’s nearly 1.40 am Friday morning) and it’s fantastic. Loved all the references to TNG, Star Trek Nemesis & Star Trek 2009. Nice cliffhanger at the end which 'teases a certain character appearing next week."

"#StarTrekPicard had more depth in just one episode than I ever could have imagined!! I’m so excited for this season!" tweeted another.

"FREAKING WOW!!!! #StarTrekPicard. What a perfect balance of tone and energy. Just beautiful. And that opening scene... the theme song," wrote a fan.

However, some fans were not entirely pleased with 'Star Trek: Picard' and said that it was "poorly written" and was a "complete disappointment". "Holy crap! #StarTrekPicard sucks harder than anyone imagined. Not only is the story contrived and the plot weak, the intro sequence is vomit, and the music is overwrought and dull," wrote another.
