For hardcore Trekkies — the ones who have followed the whole franchise from the 1960s, the latest episode of 'Star Trek: Discovery' was nothing less than a goldmine. Apart from several 'Voyager' references, we also got a *possible* throwback to 'Deep Space Nine'. Indeed, Discovery finds a ship named the USS Nog, which made fans wonder if the Ferengi got a ship named after him.

For the unversed, Nog (Aron Eisenberg) was on Deep Space Nine, where he first worked at his uncle Quark's bar. His father was not able to understand his proficiency in mechanics, and to avoid following into this rabbit hole, Nog decided to join Starfleet in the hope of establishing himself. He requests a sincere recommendation to Benjamin Sisko, who is not entirely convinced about his abilities. However, Sisko is proved wrong, as Nog proves his worth during the Dominion Worth that almost proves fatal for him later.

Initially portrayed as a mischievous imp, he becomes one of the most reliable characters on the show, and earns the promotion of Lieutenant junior grade in the finale of 'Deep Space Nine'. He had been through quite a windmill, as he lost his leg during the Dominion War. Despite a biosynthetic leg, he would still feel occasional pain in his 'phantom' leg as he would say.  Nog proved his mettle several times over the show, as he went from strength to strength, after initial hesitation from Starfleet.

In the latest episode of 'Star Trek: Discovery', the USS Nog was referenced, which made fans ecstatic. Clearly, Nog made it big.  "HE USS NOG!?!?!? LMFAOO GTFOH NOG HAS A SHIP NAMED AFTER HIM!!! HOLY TOWER OF COMMERCE & SACRED MARKETPLACE," a fan tweeted. "USS NOG! #StarTrekDiscovery,WOW," a fan noted. There were also references to 'Star Trek: Voyager', as we got to see the ship. "VOYAGER-J THE USS NOG Yayayaya," a fan excitedly tweeted.

Meanwhile, in the latest 'Star Trek: Discovery' episode, the Discovery crew finally finds the Federation, but at first, it's not quite what they remember. There is much distrust and worry around, on whether the Federation still holds on to the values it did, 930 years ago.

'Star Trek: Discovery' airs on CBS All Access, Thursdays.
