More than Peter Parker, Miles Morales or any other Spider-Person would be a better choice for a TV show
After his brief but happy homecoming, Spider-Man is now back with Sony and the studio reportedly plans on developing a number of TV shows based on the web-slinger and his associated characters. What this means is Peter Parker may be swinging to the small screen after multiple stints on the big one, which would be a terrible idea for more reasons than one.
At this point, the story of the Peter Parker Spider-Man has been done to death and giving him the series treatment isn't going to help the situation. After Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland, nobody wants to see another actor play the character anytime soon, not to mention, the sheer amount of adaptations that already exist would put undue pressure on the creators to keep things fresh.
However, all these problems could be resolved by simply removing Parker from the equation. Doing a Spider-Man story without Parker might seem like a stretch but there's no dearth of Spider-People in the multiverse for Sony to choose from.
Considering the success of 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse', Miles Morales would be the obvious choice for an alternate Spider-Man to star in his own series. The character is already quite popular and fans would definitely love to see him get the live-action treatment. That said, he's not the only character from the 'Spider-Verse' worthy of their own show.
Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen (or Ghost-Spider as she's called in the comics now) would be another excellent choice for a series. Not only is the character highly popular, exploring her world would be a fun ride for fans and newcomers alike.
There's really no end to the options Sony has at its disposal but there is one in particular that we would love to see brought to the screen, big or small, and that is Spider-Man 2099. This futuristic twist on the friendly neighborhood hero isn't exactly incredibly popular but he is definitely the coolest alternate universe Spider-Man to ever hit the stands.
After a botched attempt at rewriting his own DNA gives geneticist Miguel O'Hara the proportionate powers of a spider, he decides to use his abilities to become the Spider-Man of a world where heroes are a thing of the past. Besides the normal set of spider-powers like strength, speed, and web-slinging, Spider-Man 2099 has poison fangs and razor-sharp talons that can cut through metal like butter.
Sounds crazy, doesn't it? As if his powers weren't enough, he's also got a super cool suit that's modeled after a Mexican Day of the Dead outfit that would be a treat for the eyes.
Spider-Man 2099 did make a cameo at the end of 'Into the Spider-Verse' so even casual fans are at least a little familiar with him. Besides, Miguel's futuristic world is a very interesting dystopia where mega-corporations control the government and seeing it brought to life would be an amazing experience not to be missed.
It really wouldn't be all that hard for Sony to pull of a good Spider-Man show, so long as they find a version of the character that would be interesting enough to capture the audience's attention. But that said, please for the love of all that's sacred, don't bring on a fourth Peter Parker. Three is already two too many and there are only so many times poor Uncle Ben can bite the bullet.
