The new 'Spiderman: Far from Home' trailer reveals how the movie is linked to 'Avengers: Endgame's aftermath

The new trailer teases time travel again and sees Peter team up with Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) to battle a new breed of supervillains: The Elementals
PUBLISHED MAY 6, 2019

Contains spoilers from 'Avengers: Endgame'. And for once, even Tom Holland is warning people about it!

The new trailer of 'Spiderman: Far from Home' is here and unlike the first trailer that shows Peter Parker aka our friendly neighborhood Spiderman in a funny light, the second trailer shows a Peter who is still reeling from Tony Stark's death from 'Avengers: Endgame'. While there are comic moments, the new clip shows more of Peter-Fury interaction, not to forget Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) and a host of references to 'Avengers: Endgame'.

The biggest challenge for Peter is to figure out what it means to be "The next Iron Man". And there does seem to be a few instances of time travel again as we see Peter wear close to four new suits. The original suit from 'Spiderman: Homecoming', the new Iron Spider suit that Stark upgrades him in 'Avengers: Endgame', a black suit with goggles and of course the new black and red suit seen in the first trailer.

Mysterio is from Earth. Just not ours

Say hello to the multiverse concept and thank Captain America for that. When the star-spangled man decided to go back and live out his life with Peggy in the past while returning the Infinity Stones to their original timelines, he may have ruptured the time and space continuum, and because of that we see Mysterio making an appearance in 'Far from Home'. Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) explains that Quentin Beck aka Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) is from another world after the snap tore a hole in the dimension. The trailer also shows Beck as Peter's new father figure.

The Elementals are the new baddies

"We could use some help," says Mysterio and the villains here are The Elementals. We get a good look at the villains and we are guessing that they are Hydron, lord of the waters; Magnum, master of the earth; Hellfire, wielder of flame; and Zephyr, mistress of the winds.

MJ knows that Peter Parker is Spiderman

"I mean it's kinda obvious," says MJ in a very as-a-matter-of-fact way. Always one to have the answers for everything, plus someone who is shown to have a crush on Spiderman, it does look like she's put two-and-two together and realized that Peter was Spiderman all along. Plus the five-year difference too could have played a significant role.

'Spiderman: Far from Home' hits theatres on July 2, 2019. Watch this space for more updates.
