LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Marvel needs to pat its own back for delivering a superhero animated flick worthy of the love and adoration of die-hard fans. After a successful stint with ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,’ Marvel and Sony’s new offering, ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ is a gift that keeps on giving. The journey of Miles Morales as Spider-Man continues as he fights crime in New York on Earth-1610 but fails to live up to his parents’ (Jefferson Davis and Rio Morales) expectations. He keeps a secret book where he draws Gwen Stacy, remembering her from the time when he saved the multiverse from Kingpin Wilson Fisk by destroying the collider.

Gwen visits him but Miles is ambushed by another villain named The Spot. He tries his best to become Miles’ arch nemesis but the 15-year-old Spider-Man discards him like a bad habit. The Spot aims to become the most powerful villain and starts to access the portals to travel to different dimensions. But who is The Spot? He later reveals his identity to Miles. The Spot is Dr Jonatahn Ohnn who worked as a scientist for Kingpin. When Miles blew up the collider in ‘Into the Spider-Verse,’ the explosion turned him into a supervillain with black spots on his entire body. He used these sports to jump from one dimension to another, gaining more power and disrupting the peace of different universes. This posed a bigger threat for Spidey in those timelines. The Spot ended up becoming a problem for ‘The Spider Society’ who have no one but Miles to blame for it.

What did Miles do to get the blame from Spider Society?

Miles Morales was never supposed to be Spider-Man. He was bitten by a radioactive spider that transported from Earth-42 to Miles’s Earth-1610 after Dr Jonathan Ohnn’s research experiment at the Collider was realized. It was Dr Jonathan who made Miles, Spider-Man and in a way, Miles returned the favor, by destroying the collider and turning Dr Jonathan into the Spot. The spider from Earth-42 was supposed to bite the Peter Parker of that dimension but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Now, Earth-42 is in shambles, and Miles’ mistake of following Gwen who was tasked with chasing The Spot, has unleashed more villains in the Multiverse. For now, The Spot is lethal and is causing havoc in different timelines for all Spider persons.

Miles tries to alter the canon event

Miles eventually learns from Miguel O’Hara, the leader of the Spider Society about the relevance of canon events that eventually put every Spider-Man through the same key events, including losing a loved person that'll push them to become a hero. Another key event in every Spider-Person's journey is when a close police captain sacrifices their life during a big confrontation between the hero and his nemesis.

In Miles' case, fate seems to determine that his father will die while saving a child, as Miles fights The Spot. Miles is shocked beyond his core. He questions the algorithm and tries to flee. He wants to stop at any cost, which angers Miguel O’Hara also known as Spider-Man 2099. If Miles alters the canon event, an entire timeline will be erased. Miles, for now, has chosen to ignore his duty to save a loved one.
