BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA: In a startling event caught on camera, South Carolina police have charged a sixth-grade student for brutally bullying another kid. The Beaufort Police Department confirmed that a sixth-grade student at Lady's Island Middle School was charged with threat and assault. According to WSAV-TV, the incident occurred in the school's girls' locker room on Thursday, February 10. Nearby kids observed and recorded the horrifying incident but did nothing to help.

A huge girl is seen in the video holding the hair of a considerably smaller student. "You don’t like it when people do that to you, right? You wouldn’t like it, right? So don't do that again," the larger girl can be seen saying in the video. The attacker hits the girl after shoving her, knocking the smaller girl to the ground. The victim banged her head on a bench as she was falling, resulting in a loud thud. After that, the victim was kicked by the attacker.

The larger girl mocked the victim while she lay on the ground, screaming, "I will hurt you." She also intimidated the victim, threatening to "stomp" her "b***h-a** face in."

"You can go now! Bye!" the attacker remarked as the victim hurried out of the locker room. According to the police report, the two girls had a verbal fight the day before the locker room incident.

"Law enforcement is investigating and the school is taking appropriate steps to ensure that this situation is handled according to the Beaufort County School District’s Student Code of Conduct-Progressive Discipline Plan," said Principal Chavon Browne in a statement.

"We do not condone any acts of violence in our school and strive to provide a safe, productive learning environment for our students each day," Browne added.

A police official stated that the perpetrator would face family court charges. She was charged with assault and battery in the third degree, as well as making threats. Nonetheless, a victim's family member told the Island Packet that the other girl's parents and the school "need to be held more accountable".

"Something’s got to give. We can’t keep saying, ‘Oh, this kid’s been bullied, we’re looking into this situation,’ and you get no response back," said a family member.

In an email sent late on the day of the incident, the principal of Lady's Island Middle School informed parents of the situation. "Good evening Lady’s Island Middle School Families, This is Dr. Chavon Browne, principal of Lady’s Island Middle School. I am calling to let you know that a physical altercation involving two Lady’s Island Middle School students was reported to administration. Law enforcement is investigating and the school is taking appropriate steps to ensure that this situation is handled according to the Beaufort County School District’s Student Code of Conduct-Progressive Discipline Plan. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to school administrators Dr. Browne, Mr. Campbell, and/or Ms. Davis.
