A father has used a controversial approach to discipline his son for bullying his older sister. The man took to Reddit to ask if he was an "a**hole" for making their whole family go vegan for a month after one of his son's pranks went too far. He explained, "This all came to a head when my son took all of the food my daughter had bought for the week and hid it pretending he threw it away on garbage day. I got a call in the middle of the day at work from my daughter crying saying that he had thrown all her food away."

When the father arrived home from work to break up the argument, he discovered that his son had only hidden the food as a cruel joke. "I was livid. So, for the next 30 days, we are going to eat nothing but vegan food. We will make nothing but vegan food and buy nothing but vegan products,” the father added.

According to the father, his daughter has been a vegan for more than a year; she buys her own groceries and cooks her own meals when there are no vegan options for the family. The father claimed that his son had complained to his grandparents, who had alluded to the month-long vegan festival as ‘abuse,’ and were furious over the vegan punishment. Some family friends and other family members are of the same opinion. But the father continues to stand his ground. "My son is miserable, but I really don't care. He brought this upon himself. He still has food to eat, and can spend what little pocket money he has to buy meat,” the father remarked.

However, the father's creative punishment gained resounding applause after his post on Reddit's "Am I The A**hole" board. One user wrote, “That’s fair. He thought it would be okay to bully his sister, but for what? Being vegan? He can experience what she has to do. Buy and cook his own food. It’s not like he doesn’t have access to food. It’s just all vegan for a month.” “I want to give you a standing ovation, you are NTA at all, what you did was combat AH behavior with consequences. I don't think it's abusive at all. This is a creative punishment. You are not forbidding him from eating meat only that he is going to have to buy it himself. Maybe he will learn a lesson and decide that being an AH is not worth it,” another user added.

Someone wrote, "This is honestly more of a learning opportunity than punishment. And it's definitely not abusive. He's only being limited to vegan-only foods that you buy for home. He can buy/cook his own food for home and eat what he wants anywhere else. Maybe now he'll learn to stop being a shit to his sister" “You aren't starving him, and you aren't even singling him out. You are all eating vegan as a family. You haven't even disallowed him from eating non-vegan in the house, he just has to pay for it if he wants it. Being an a**hole has consequences, and I think you handled it well,” another Reddit user added.
