'So You Think You Can Dance': Top audition from each week of season 16

While we wait for the final auditions episode to air next week, here's a look back at the best auditions in the last four weeks.
PUBLISHED JUL 6, 2019

Fox's 'So You Think You Can Dance' season 16 has a different vibe compared to the previous seasons that have aired. The first point of difference is the fact that judges no longer have to travel all around the country to watch the contestants audition anymore. For the current season, the series set up a stage for the judges in Hollywood, where dancers from across the country were able to audition. Another standout feature were the dancers who auditioned, with most of the contestants being more than just ballroom dancers.

Till date the series has aired four audition episodes, and fans were eagerly awaiting to see the final round of auditions this week, but were left disappointed as the series didn't air it but went with a rerun because of July 4th and associated festivities.

While we wait till next Monday night for the episode to air, let's take a look at the top auditions from each week that stunned not just the judges but viewers and fans too.

So You Think You Can Dance - episode 1 - CR: Adam Rose/FOX

When 'So You Think You Can Dance' premiered on June 3, we witnessed quite a few impeccable dancers auditioning for a chance to get into the academy. But there was one hip-hop dancer who emerged as a fan favorite right after her audition. And that was none other than Dezi Saenz.

Thought she might have seemed nervous before her performance, once the music started, she brought out the best in her. Saenz's moves captivated everyone and left them stunned. She popped and locked to 'Thinking'. She had the judges cheering for her even before her performance ended. She received four yeses and moved on to the next round. We can't wait to see what she brings to the next round.

During the second week of auditions, one couple stood out among the many dancers who left everyone spell-bound. Kaeli Ware and Brandon Talbot were a Contemporary Ballet duo who are just friends and dance together.

Ware previously appeared on 'Dance Moms'. The music was a bit off and not in perfect sync for their dance, but their steps were flawless. They danced so elegantly that the judges absolutely loved their performance. Though the couple advanced to the academy, we can't wait to see how they perform alone and with other contestants in the upcoming episodes.

The contestant who stood out in week 3 was a self-taught street dancer. Frank 'Ghost' Crisp Jr, danced to "Pump It Up" by Joe Budden, and brought in a few stunts to his routine. His moves seemed effortless and smooth. Moving directly into the academy, Crisp Jr is definitely among the front-runners this season and we can't wait to see more of his moves on the show.

Bryan “Clocks” Volozanin's performance was the highlight of last week's audition. Volozanin is a hip-hop dancer whose field is robotics animation; he had auditioned previously but didn't make it all the way. More determined than ever, Volozanin's performance was nothing short of impressive, with the judges giving him a Golden Ticket.

With four weeks of auditions already done, and a number of contestants given the Golden Ticket, we can't wait to see what the final audition has in store for us.

'So You Think You Can Dance' season 16 airs every Monday night on Fox. Check your local listings for more information.
