LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix's Brazilian multi-camera sitcom, 'Smother-in-Law' (or 'A Sogra Que Te Pariu' in Portuguese), has been renewed for a second season. The show revolves around Dona Isadir, who, after being released from prison, finds a chance to stay with her son Carlos and daughter-in-law Alice. However, she also tries to disrupt their lives and take over the care of their upcoming grandchild. The show is Netflix's first Brazilian multi-camera sitcom, and the second season is highly anticipated by fans of the show.

Comedian Rodrigo Sant'Anna created and co-wrote the script for 'Smother-in-Law', alongside Wagner Trindade. Alex Cabral directs the comedy series, which is produced by Os Suburbanos Produçes. The sitcom was shot mostly in Rio de Janeiro.

Rodrigo Sant'Anna

Rodrigo Sant'Anna is a well-known Brazilian actor, comedian, and writer who has made a name for himself in television, film, and theater. Born on June 6, 1981, in Rio de Janeiro, he started his career in the early 2000s as a theater actor, performing in various plays in his hometown. Sant'Anna rose to national prominence in 2010 when he joined the cast of the popular TV show 'Zorra Total', where he created and played memorable characters like Valéria Vasquez, a self-absorbed trans woman who brags about her looks and beauty regimen. In 2013, he created and starred in the hit TV series 'Vai que Cola', which depicts the misadventures of a group of friends residing in a boarding house in Rio de Janeiro. The show was a huge success and ran for several seasons, propelling Sant'Anna to become one of Brazil's most celebrated comedians. In summary, Rodrigo Sant'Anna is a widely respected and popular personality in Brazilian entertainment. His talent, humor, and unwavering commitment to social justice have endeared him to many.



 

Rafael Zulu

Rafael Zulu is a renowned Brazilian actor, recognized for his remarkable performances in television, film, and theater. Born on June 4, 1982, in Rio de Janeiro, Zulu initially worked as a model before pursuing acting. He made his acting debut in 2005 in the TV series 'Prova de Amor' and has since featured in various shows, including 'Duas Caras', 'Insensato Coração', and 'Verdades Secretas'.

In addition to his television work, Zulu has also starred in several films, such as 'Cidade de Deus' (2002), 'Xuxa em O Mistério de Feiurinha' (2009), and 'Os Parças' (2017). He has also had a successful career in theater, appearing in productions like 'Era no Tempo do Rei' and 'Meu Deus!' Zulu's outstanding talent and versatility in a range of roles have earned him immense popularity and respect in Brazil. He has received several accolades and nominations, including a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the International Emmy Awards in 2018 for his role in the TV series 'Aldo - Mais Forte que o Mundo'.



 

Lidi Lisboa

Lidi Lisboa is a Brazilian actress known for her work in television, film, and theater. She was born on May 25, 1984, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Lisboa began her acting career in the early 2000s and has appeared in numerous television shows, including 'Vidas Opostas', 'Poder Paralelo', and 'Amor e Revolução'. She has also starred in several films, including 'O Magnata' (2007) and 'Deserto' (2017). In addition to her acting work, Lisboa is also a trained dancer and has performed in various dance productions.
