You couldn't get much more metal than this if you tried! After the legendary masked heavy metal band Slipknot gave their fans an early Halloween present last year by promising "something new," they've exceeded expectations again.

The band has just delivered an assault on our senses with a brutally dark, magnificently surreal, haunting new short film titled 'Pollution'.

The bizarre mini-movie has been directed by the band's founding member and longtime percussionist, Shawn "Clown" Crahan, who has helmed many of Slipknot's official music videos and other artistic projects in the past, including the band's 2005 DVD, 'Voliminal: Inside the Nine'.

Crahan also issued a quote to accompany the video on the band's official YouTube channel — "I set out to make a short film that makes you question your own existence, here in this reality."

"When you lay down in your bed, next to the one you love, do you ever ask yourself — is it possible that this person could slit my throat while I’m sleeping? Enjoy. Pollution is everywhere. — clown," read the director's morbid statement.

The 20-minute short film 'Pollution' also contains the official music video for their song 'Nero Forte', which was part of their hour-long album, 2019's 'We Are Not Your Kind'.

The video for 'Nero Forte' appears somewhere around the 8:20 minute mark of the feature, check it out here below! But we'd definitely recommend that you view the film in its entirety, the band has clearly put some work into this one, and it's strangely beautiful in certain sections.

Crahan had previously released a teaser announcement of the band working on the 'Nero Forte' video on Slipknot's official Twitter account in October 2019, a few days before Halloween. "Clown here. It's the 28th, we're getting ready for our video — 'Nero Forte'," he said.

"We grabbed an MGM spot where they have a sound stage. Usually, in Slipknot, things get crazy quickly and we start losing time because of space. So we brought the space in a lot tighter and I think this is gonna work."

He then went on to hint that the nine-member band had something really amazing in the works — "Now we can paint. Everyone that's involved can paint. The camera can paint, Lights can paint, I can paint... Everyone can just put their two cents in and really get in here and make something special."

He then concluded by thanking the Maggots for their continued support — "To all the Slipknot fans, this is going to be an amazing time. Thanks for being here. We're trying something new. Welcome to 'Nero Forte' — the dark force."
