’Sins in the Suburbs': 5 things you didn't know about Monique Sypkens
‘Sins in the Suburbs’ is a new Lifetime thriller packed with suspense, mystery, and romance. Heather, a hardworking craftswoman who lives in a peaceful neighborhood, meets her new neighbor, Tyler, a handsome photographer. While first intrigued, Heather begins to consider the possibility that Tyler may be involved with a neighboring serial killer.
Heather is played by Monique Sypkens, and Tyler is played by Brandon Santana. Austin Gage, Elizabeth Johnson, and Steph Martinez are among the other cast members. Monique Sypkens
Monique Sypkens was born in Sacramento, California, to a German/Dutch father and an African-American/Native American mother. She grew up in the tiny suburb of Elk Grove, California, where she played basketball and took dance classes. She began performing at an early age in community plays and on small stages. Monique appeared in the RevryTV pilot 'Fauk My Life', a coming-of-age narrative that premiered in 2016. She has since traveled the world with the Pure Praxis Theatre company to raise awareness about sexual assault and retribution in the military. Through the Unusual Suspects Theatre Company she also taught improv, performance, and writing at a number of Los Angeles juvenile institutions. Monique has starred in a number of commercials as well as short films.
Monique discovered her passion for acting in middle school and grew up performing in neighborhood plays and on local stages (One of her first student jobs was working in the retail department of the touring Broadway production of Mary Poppins). She earned a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts with a minor in Film Production from Long Beach State. Sypkens is a filmmaker now working on her own movie in post-production in Los Angeles.
Brandon Santana
Brandon Santana was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 6, 1996. Brandon is an actor who has starred in films such as 'Fatal Memory' (2022), 'Home Economics' (2021), and 'NOS4A2' (2019).
Austin Gage
Austin Gage began working on 'The Killing of a Sacred Deer' and 'Inconcievable' as an office intern. Gage had his training at the studios of Margie Haber, Howard Fine, and Ivana Chubbuck. The UP(st)ART Awards have nominated him three times for Best Dramatic Actor of The Year.
Elizabeth Johnson
Elizabeth Johnson is an actress who was born in Rochester, New York, and reared in Los Angeles, California. Elizabeth has always had a passion for the performing arts, and with a 7-year background in dance, she began her creative adventure in motion pictures when she was 19 years old. She is most recognized for her supporting role in 'Secrets on Campus' as Chloe Pena.
Steph Martinez
Steph is an actress known for 'Bothered' (2020), 'Avocado' (2022), and 'Bee-Man' (2022).
'Sins in the Suburbs' will premiere on March 19, 2022, at 8 pm ET/PT on Lifetime.
