Simu Liu gives exciting tease for 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' sequel
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Marvel is officially in its multiversal phase now, and the universe of the MCU is ever-expanding. From 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' to 'Eternals', we got to witness the origin stories of several new superheroes in town. And during a recent interview, Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu himself teased a little about the upcoming sequel.
Released in 2021, Destin Daniel Cretton's directorial 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' has opened up to both critical and commercial acclaim. The movie has already been greenlit for a sequel, though little to no news related to the project has been officially out. The movie had a stellar set cast, including Simu Liu as Shaun/ Shang-Chi, Awkwafina as Katy, Tony Leung Chiu-wai as Xu Wenwu, Meng'er Zhang as Xialing, and Michelle Yeoh as Ying Nan.

New sides of Shaun
During a recent conversation with Collider, the 'Barbie' actor opened up about one of the most anticipated sequels in the MCU. Simu Liu recalled the stress and pressure he was under while filming 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings'. And now, as the movie is gearing up for a sequel, Simu has nothing but excitement to jump into the project. Simu added that they are gearing up to deliver all the amazing elements in the first part, particularly the mesmerizing stunt sequences. Simu also liked to explore the new sides of Shaun and expressed his desire to reunite with his Oscar-winning co-star Michelle Yeoh, if they could afford her. Simu has nothing but love to share with Yeoh.
"Going into a sequel feels exciting. It doesn’t necessarily feel like there’s a pressure to perform or a pressure to exceed. It feels like we’ve established a world and there’s just something really nostalgic and exciting about returning to that world that we’ve spent so much time ideating on and thinking about. And then, we’re getting to revisit some things, but also show the viewer new things. We’ll deliver all of the amazing action that we were celebrated for on the first movie, but then also hopefully explore new sides of Shaun’s character and the characters around him. That is, of course, if we can still afford Michelle Yeoh. She’s on top of the world and just the queen of everything."
The exciting sequel
The sequel of 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' is also set to be written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The last time we saw Shang-Chi, his father sacrificed himself after passing down the Ten Rings to him. And we also saw Wong, Bruce Wayne, and Carol Danvers researching the origin of the ring and finding out about a mysterious beacon coming out of it. So with Kang now in play, it will be exciting to learn more about how the sequel fits into the larger Multiversal Saga. Let us wait for official updates to learn more.
Simu is currently busy with his upcoming anticipated lineups 'One True Loves' and 'Barbie'. Simu is also set to appear in other MCu projects like 'Avengers: Secret Wars'.
