Entertainment mogul Simon Cowell was rushed to a hospital after he broke his back in a motorcycle accident. Cowell, well known for hit shows 'Britain's Got Talent' and 'The X Factor', reportedly fell off his new electric bike in the courtyard of his Los Angeles home. The television personality reportedly took his new bike for a test drive when the accident happened.

A representative of the 60-year-old said, “He's doing fine, he's under observation and is in the best possible hands.” Earlier, the spokesperson soon after Cowell was hospitalized said that he “has broken his back and is having surgery this evening. Simon had a fall from his bike on Saturday afternoon whilst testing his new electric bike in the courtyard at his house in Malibu with his family.” The surgery reportedly started on Saturday evening, August 8.

However, it’s not very clear what kind of injuries Cowell suffered, but a “broken back” mostly refers to a fracture in a part of the spine. The accident has also made it unclear whether he will be able to attend the upcoming series of 'Britain's Got Talent' or its US equivalent.

A few days ago, it was also revealed that the talent show judge was going to miss out on 'Britain's Got Talent' semi-finals for the first time due to dates clash. “Simon is gutted to not be physically there for the semi-finals, but he'll be there virtually, casting an eye over the talent and imparting his views in every show.  Normally, schedules mean Simon can do both but AGT's dates haven't moved while BGT's have due to coronavirus,” an insider told The Sun.

Earlier in 2017, Cowell injured himself by falling down the stairs at his London home. At the time, it was revealed that the star fainted because of “low blood pressure”. But he blamed his unhealthy lifestyle for the mishap. “Sometimes we get a reminder that we're not invincible and this was certainly mine. It was a huge shock. They think I fainted because I had low blood pressure and so I have got to really take good care of myself to sort that out,” Cowell said at the time.

In 2019, he put himself on diet and admitted in May this year that he couldn't believe the results he has been getting. “I started this diet a year ago and I've lost 60 pounds,” Cowell stated, adding he is always tempted towards junk food, especially when his son Eric - whom he shares with his partner Lauren Silverman - has a pizza for dinner. “I'm doing a bit of cooking. I'm exercising. Funny enough, more during this time as well, sticking to the diet. The only difficult thing is when Eric orders a pizza...that's the number one thing I miss,” he said.

Cowell also mentioned that “The most dramatic period was the first month where most of the weight comes off and you look at yourself and think ‘wow’." While on his new diet, he explained, “All I do is avoid just red meat - white meat is fine - and I eat loads of vegetables, salads and drink this great beer. If you’re on a diet you have to keep the food sensible, but it’s got to be interesting and tasty, then the diet’s surprisingly easy."
