Top 10 TV shows to look out for in 2020, from 'Star Trek: Picard' to 'Stargirl' and 'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier'

The new year is just a couple of weeks away and we have already got you covered with the shows that you should look out for in 2020

The year 2019 is coming to an end which means saying goodbye to some of the shows from this year. Many shows made us cry, while some made us laugh and a few others made us angry.

However, with a new year ahead it is time for us to invite new shows into our life and bid farewell to the ones that have ended. Luckily, 2020 has some promising shows ahead and here are some of them that you should look out for. 

1. 'Normal People'

'Normal People' follows the lives of two people who have been living a different lifestyle (IMDb)

The show follows the lives of Marianne and Connell — two people who have been living a different lifestyle and have different tastes but are bound together because of Ireland as the two hail from the same place. Even though their tastes are different the pair often find themselves in and out of each other's life which ultimately results in a romantic relationship brewing between the pair. The series will premiere on Hulu and BBC Three and will be shown on BBC One. The release date is yet to be announced. 

2. 'Katy Keene'

'Katy Keene' is inspired by the Archie comics (IMDb)

The show is inspired by the characters of the Archie comics, Katy Keene and  Josie McCoy. The two girls decide to move to New York to pursue their dream of being in the spotlight in the big city. However, things are not easy for them as they have to face the ups and downs of life as they try to make a name for themselves in a world that is ready to make anyone step aside. The show will premiere on February 6, 2020 on The CW. 

3. 'Star Trek: Picard'

'Star Trek: Picard' is set 20 years after 'Star Trek: Nemesis' (IMDb)

The series is set 20 years after Jean-Luc Picard last appeared on 'Star Trek: Nemesis'. The series will show how the death of Data affected everyone while also shedding light on how things have changed since the destruction of Romulus. The show will premiere on January 23, 2020 on CBS. 

4. 'Stargirl'

'Stargirl' trails the life of Courtney Whitmore (IMDb)

The life of high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore completely changes after she finds a powerful cosmic staff. She is motivated to make a difference after she finds out that her father used to be a hero sidekick and before she realizes it she becomes an inspiration for all the new superheroes of the new generation. The show will premiere on DC Universe streaming service and would release on The CW the next day.  The release date is yet to be announced. 

5. 'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier'

'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier' is Marvel's upcoming series (IMDb)

The Marvel series will focus on characters Falcon and Winter Soldier. The upcoming series will be showcased on Disney Channel's streaming site Disney plus. Disney has taken up production for various shows to exclusively show on their streaming site and it looks like with 'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier', they are ready to add a hit to their list of shows. The release date is not yet announced. 

6. 'Emily In Paris'

'Emily In Paris' will see Lily Collins taking on the role of Emily, a 20-something American woman who moves to Paris when an opportunity opens up for her. Her excitement soon turns into a nightmare as she tries to find her American identity in a French-dominated place. Things become difficult for Emily as she has to juggle between work, friendship, and love. The show will premiere on Paramount Network but the release date has not been announced. 

7. 'The Trial of Christine Keeler'

'The Trial of Christine Keeler' is an upcoming British show that is inspired by events that were connected to the Profumo affair which took place in the 1960s. The Prufomo was a political scandal that involved John Profumo, the Secretary of State for War in Harold Macmillan's Conservative government, and Christine Keeler, a 19-year-old would-be model. The show will premiere on BBC One but the date has not yet been confirmed. 

8. 'Ares'

'Ares' is an upcoming sci-fi thriller (IMDb)

This sci-fi series is sure to keep viewers entertained. The story follows the lives of Dutch students in Amsterdam who find themselves in trouble after they accidentally open a portal to a demonic world that starts to slowly affect their lives and everything around them. The show will air on Netflix. The streaming site is yet to announce its premiere date. 

9. 'The Wheel Of Time'

'The Wheel Of Time' is all about magic  (IMDb)

The show follows the life of Moiraine, a member of Aes Sedai, an all-women organization that uses magic for the greater good. Moiraine decides to take five girls from the village after she believes that one of them might be the reincarnation of the Dragon, a powerful and ancient hero who is destined to either save the world or destroy it. The show will release on Prime Video but the date of its premiere is not yet confirmed. 

10. 'Y'

'Y' is all about the last man alive on Earth (IMDb)

'Y' follows the life of the last man who is alive on Earth and how he struggles to find his way stuck in a post-apocalyptic world. The show will be released on FX but the date of its release is unknown.
