Pro-Trump Capitol rioters drag cop down stairs, use American flag pole to beat him in disturbing video

The officer who was reportedly victimized in the clip has not been identified yet. Also, the level of injuries he suffered is not known

Shocking footage has emerged from the riot that took place at the US Capitol last week. The clip that was first aired by CNN on Sunday, January 10, soon went viral on Twitter and showed a rioter wearing a white hat and backpack grabbing a police officer by the helmet and dragging him down the stairs while others kicked and punched the cop. In the video, a man was seen using an American flag pole to beat the officer repeatedly. Some people even chanted, “USA, USA”, while one man said, “Take him out” as they attacked the officer.

The officer who was reportedly victimized in the clip has not been identified yet. Also, the level of injuries he suffered is not known. The Washington Post reported that DC Metropolitan Police and Capitol Police have not issued any statements yet regarding the incident. According to reports, at least 82 arrests have been made so far following the deadly protests at Washington, D.C. that shook the whole of America. Besides, 55 people have been charged over the insurrection.

The riot took five lives that included one police officer, identified as Brian D. Sicknick. As per a report by CNN, the incident involving the unidentified cop was captured outside the Capitol around 4:30 pm on Wednesday, January 6, a few minutes after Donald Trump tweeted a video message addressing the protesters, “We love you. You’re very special. We’ve seen what happens, you see the way others are treated that are so bad and so evil. I know you how feel. But go home, and go home in peace.”

The disturbing video has been condemned widely on the internet as a person said, “The police should have used deadly force. If these were black people they would have.” Another asked, “A couple of dozen tear gas grenades would have cleared those assholes out in five minutes. Where were the high decibel crowd control systems like BLM protests???” “What kind of person hits anyone when they are face down in the ground and defenseless? F**king disgusting monsters,” the third user wrote.

“If there was ever a time for a police officer to pull the trigger and say they feared for their life, this is it. Why is it police will pull the trigger on black people simply for existing with that line, but they won't do it when an angry mob is literally trying to kill them?” the fourth user noted. The fifth said, “Every single Vet or government worker who participated in this should have ALL of their benefits REVOKED; this is a Coup and in other countries, ppl are easily put to death for trying to overthrow the government.” 

The sixth user added, “Just more proof that the right wing extremists were never on the side of blue lives. The only thing that they supported were police officers beating the black lives matter protesters. They never actually cared about those officers”, while the seventh one suggested: “We will learn at some point that Tr*mp planned for this to happen and planned to hold back the national guard long enough for his terrorists to get the job done. He must be punished for this. Severely.”
