'Shirley': Meet the cast of Hulu's biopic that will send chills down your spine

Hulu’s upcoming biopic 'Shirley', based on renowned Amerian writer Shirley Jackson, is very similar to one of her psychological horror stories. With Elizabeth Moss essaying the lead role, the movie navigates Jackson’s tumultuous relationship with husband and professor Stanley Hyman, and their impact on a young couple who come to stay with them. ‘Shirley’ is set to drop on June 5 on Hulu. Elisabeth Moss

In what could be called one of her many best performances so far, Elisabeth Moss features Jackson’s semi-fictionalized character. The 37-year-old actress is famous for her role in AMC’s period drama series ‘Mad Men’, which aired from 2007 to 2015. She’s the recipient of Golden Globe Award for Best Actress under the category of Miniseries or Television film for essaying Detective Robin Griffin in the BBC miniseries ‘Top of the Lake’. She has also won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for producing and starring in the Hulu series ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’. 

Michael Stuhlbarg

‘Shirley’ isn’t Michael Stuhlbarg’s first time as a troubled university professor as he’s previously played a similar role in ‘A Serious Man’ from 2009. He’s popular for portraying real-life figures in the majority of his films. Stuhlbarg essayed George Yeaman in ‘Lincoln’, Andy Hitchcock in ‘Steve Jobs’ and Abe Rosenthal in ‘The Post’ among many others. His latest work includes ‘Fargo’. Other notable films of his include ‘Men in Black 3', ‘Doctor Strange’ and ‘Blue Jasmine’. 

Logan Lerman

Logan Lerman is an American actor popular for his role in ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’. He plays the role of Rose’s husband and professor trainee in ‘Shirley’. He returned to television with Amazon Prime’s ‘Hunters’ in 2020. He’s also popular through ‘Jack & Bobby’. 

Odessa Young

Australian actress Odessa Young plays the role of young Rose in 'Shirley'. She is one of Hyman’s students who shares his and Shirley’s residence with her husband Fred. She has won an AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the feature film ‘The Daughter’. She will be next seen as Samantha in HBO Max’s crime drama television series ‘Tokyo Vice’.
