Shawn Porter vs Sebastian Formella: How to live stream, time, venue and who will win WBC's silver welterweight title
WBC fans are all set for the clash for WBC's silver welterweight title. Two-time welterweight champion Shawn "Showtime" Porter (30-3-1, 17 KOs) will take on Germany's Sebastian Formella (22-0, 10 KOs) on August 22, 2020.
Established by the World Boxing Council in 2010, the silver title was meant to be a replacement for interim titles. According to Fight Sports, Justin Savi was the first fighter to win the title, and Amir Khan held onto the belt from 2014 to 2016.
Sebastian Formella is yet to taste defeat as a pro but he is all set to go against the two-time welterweight world champion in Shawn Porter. This prizefight marks the United States debut for Formella who earlier fought in January 2020 against Roberto Arriaza which he won. He has mostly carved out his name on the German circuit and he's taking a step forward by clashing with Formella. He has initially captured the title in a comprehensive performance last summer against Thulani Mbenge.
In 2018, Porter defeated Danny Gracia in a close fight for the WBC welterweight. In March 2019, he retained the title for the first time by defeating Cuba's Yordanis Ugas. But later he lost the title to his clash with IBF champion Errol Spence in September 2019. It was announced on, August 18, 2013, that Porter would be part of a tripleheader on Fox Sports 2. He is currently sitting in the No. 1 position under the rankings of WBC welterweight. If he defeats Formella, he can easily regain his position for a world title. Porter is ranked as the world's fourth-best active welterweight by BoxRec and the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board.
