Shawn Laval Smith stabbed Brianna Kupfer 26 times! So why has woke DA suspended criminal proceedings?
Brianna Kupfer, a UCLA student, was horribly murdered after being stabbed by a random person who entered the furniture store while she was working, in January 2022. Her autopsy report has now revealed that she was stabbed 26 times by Shawn Laval Smith. Despite Smith's arrest, woke DA George Gascon, who has a reputation of letting criminals go free, has done it again as he suspends criminal proceedings for this case as well.
Ignoring the brutality of Smith's attack that left Kupfer'd00 lifeless, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon's office has decided to suspend any criminal proceedings so that Smith, who has an extensive criminal history, can undergo mental health evaluation. If he is found mentally deranged in any capacity he would be found not guilty of the crime by way of insanity and put in a psychiatric facility rather than in a prison. At the time of the attack, DA Gascon said, "The murder of Brianna Kupfer has left Los Angeles County devastated and my office is reaching out to her family to provide any services they may need."

Smith, 31, stabbed Kupfer, 24, 11 times in the chest, five in her left arm, three in her left leg, and one in her pelvis. As per the New York Post, he also stabbed Kupfer in her abdomen, right arm, and right leg. Almost 10 minutes before she was stabbed to death, she texted her manager that she is getting a "bad vibe". Her manager failed to see the text message at the moment and she was killed thereafter. As of now, Kupfer's parents have not reacted to the decision made by Gascon's office.
DA Gascon goes soft on crime, ONCE AGAIN
Shawn Smith, at the time of attacking Brianna Kupfer, was already out on probation and was free on a $50,000 bond after allegedly firing a weapon toward an occupied vehicle in Charleston, South Carolina, in November 2019. Moreover, he had been previously arrested and charged with violent crimes in at least three states. At the time of the murder, he had an active warrant for assaulting a police officer. Suspending the criminal proceedings for Smith has caused severe backlash for woke DA Gascon who has carried out these stunts before also.
Previously, he went easy on a 17-year-old boy who confessed to ramming his car over a woman walking with her infant child in a stroller in Venice, California. This boy was previously convicted for a case of poisoning after he spiked a teenage girl's drink in 2019 at Palmdale High School. For the latest accident, the report revealed that the teen was charged with two felony charges of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and one felony count of hit-and-run and pleaded guilty. Moreover, he was just ordered to spend five months in a diversionary program. Now, suspending the criminal proceedings will bring the case to a halt.

Talking to Fox News Digital, Kupfer's father, Todd Kupfer, 60, talked about the autopsy report and said, "You have people who don’t really care about humanity and, for whatever selfish gain or for whatever reason, they act without authority and without a conscience. Everybody knows she was brutally murdered. I don’t know why people would need to know more than that. It's glorifying a horrible tragedy for entertainment." The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner released a 34-page autopsy report. Todd explained that the family has been avoiding reading or learning about it saying, "We don’t want to know that at this point. It’s too difficult and too triggering."
Todd Kupfer previously blamed the politicians for rising crime in LA. Talking to Fox News Digital, he said, "Crime is truly spiking, and we have a lot of criminals on the streets that shouldn’t be out. We have a lot of politicians that somehow forgot about people and think the key to getting elected is to support the lowest rung of our society and to give them rights and somehow that’s the answer to getting votes." Remembering his daughter who was a consultant at Croft House on North La Brea Avenue, Todd said, "She was a kind soul and always was trying to make herself better and everything around her better."
