Sharon Stone, 62, says her 'aging body' made her cry but she slowed it down by disciplined eating and exercise
For many Sharon Stone is the epitome of beauty. Her serial killer character in ‘Basic Instinct’, where she is seen spreading her legs to distract an investigator, took her to the top of the world’s sexiest women alive lists across the world.
But the achievement did not make her happy because it was weird for her to accept the fact that people, especially men, were finding a serial killer “sexy”, revealed the actress in a recent interview with Vogue Germany. “It's crazy what you find so sexy. But men are probably into sexual perpetrators and predators who take what they feel like. At least it was in the 1990s,” Stone told the magazine.
The actress also revealed that there were occasions where she did not feel any happiness while topping the lists. “There was a point in my forties when I went into the bathroom with a bottle of wine, locked the door, and said: I won't get out until I can fully accept my body,” the ‘Casino’ star shared.
Continuing further, Stone said: “I started to cry at the sight of my slightly aging body and face in the magnifying mirror. But you are not completely powerless and can slow down the process enormously if you pull yourself together, eat disciplined and exercise a lot.”
The 62-year-old, who suffered a massive stroke in 2001 as well as a four-day brain bleed, revealed that she is working on a memoir that will cover everything from her health problems to her divorce, as well as her secrets to aging well.
She also shared the secrets of her ever-glowing body as she admitted: “I feel most alive when I dance. Not just a little bit now and then. No, I dance my soul at least three or four nights a week! This keeps you in shape and awake and ignites life energy.”
“I also got my sleep rhythm in order by not pulling the curtains anymore and therefore waking up at eight instead of twelve at noon,” she added.
The actress also credited a mixture of bodybuilding and martial arts, especially taekwondo, for her flexibility. She also said that after giving up alcohol for three months, she “noticed a huge difference” in her.
“On round birthdays, I also face new fitness challenges. You see, I can still use my toes to touch my head here in the chair, even without warming up. I owe that to extreme stretch meditation workouts. Otherwise, I couldn't get through these shoots,” she added.
This comes a few days after Stone opened up about sexism in Hollywood and claimed that she was playing by her own rules long before the #MeToo movement began. In an interview with Vogue, she recalled a disturbing incident when she was shooting for 'Basic Instinct 2'.
She said: “I worked with a director on 'Basic 2' who asked me to sit on his lap each day to receive his direction, and when I refused he wouldn’t shoot me. This went on for weeks. I had a two-week-old baby when this started. I can say we all hated that and I think the film reflects the quality of the atmosphere we all worked in.”
