'Shahs of Sunset': Andy Cohen lets Reza's abortion comment on MJ slide, fans brand him as 'horrible host'
Reza Farahan and Mercedes "MJ" Javid have been friends for 30 years but for the first time, it looked like they were done. That was until MJ made that fateful call after the reunion was over and they went back to being old pals.
'Shahs of Sunset' Season 8 was all about Reza and MJ's equation that bittered over one rumor that could have ended Reza's marriage with Adam Neely. She had convinced Ali Ashour that Adam was sexually harassing him by sending nude pictures to him. While Adam escaped unscathed (maybe a chat or two to figure out where he was in the marriage), it was MJ who had to give up a lot.
But it was possibly best for her given how Reza reacted to the whole incident. They were at a pool party when MJ tried to reason with Reza as to why he called and confronted her about a rumor while she was in the ER getting herself her treated for a life-threatening complication. MJ had to undergo a surgery to remove her uterus.
It was clear that Reza was in no mood to reconcile. Instead of apologizing, he jeopardized their three decades of friendship by yelling: "Your uterus exploded because you had 10 abortions." This acted as the final nail on the coffin. It was uncalled for and totally unnecessary.
Oddly enough, Andy didn't explore this topic enough. For fans, he seemed more interested in patching them up than discussing issues that mattered. He did call Reza out for making such "dark" comments, but that conversation lasted a few seconds. The viewers are questioning Andy's credibility as a host after he was not able to bring up problems that needed to be addressed no matter what.
"Why didn't @Andy ask Reza about the abortions. Why didn't he ask him if a woman deserves to be shamed for her right to choose? He's a horrible host #ShahsOfSunset," a fan commented, while another shared: "I am almost over Andy. He did the same at the PumpRules reunion. "Andy hates women. He thrives off of this," a user tweeted, as another pointed out: "And #BelowDeck dismissing the women to make the men look better."
