We already know that Maeve (Emma Mackey) and Otis (Asa Butterfield) were best friends in earlier seasons and had amazing chemistry. But it all changed during the ending moments of Season 2 when Otis said a lot of things during the party that left her angry. Since then, their relationship hasn’t been the same. However, Maeve finally got to know about the voicemail Otis sent and now, she has been meaning to talk to him.

But, things have changed now because Otis is in a serious relationship with Ruby (Mimi Keene). They seem to be getting along with each other while Maeve’s relationship with Isaac has been ruined. In a surprising turn of events, Maeve’s mother, Erin, visits her because she has her passport at her house. Maeve’s not home, so Isaac calls her in and strikes a conversation. He tells her that she has a nice face and starts painting her.

On the other hand, Ruby finally takes Otis to her house and says that she never lets anyone visit her because everyone believes that she lives in a big house, but she doesn’t. Otis meets her dad and hangs out with him. He also helps him in getting to bed. Elsewhere, Isaac reveals that he was really scared of losing Maeve when that voicemail came in and admits that whatever he did was wrong.

Isaac tells her that he likes her and wants her to be a part of life. But it seems, she’s not ready to take that final step. She lets him be a part of her life, but only as a friend. Things seem to be better with them. The show ends with Ruby calling Otis and thanking him for today. She finally says, “I love you” to him, but Otis is still skeptical about his relationship and doesn’t say the three magical words back to her. Ruby seems to be feeling devastated as her eyes get filled with some tears. On the other hand, Otis feels bad as well as he might be breaking Ruby’s heart because of her feelings for Maeve.
