'Sex Education' Season 2 Episode 2 shows all action and no talking is a recipe for bad mojo

Otis finally figures out how to improve his under-the-panties technique while Mr Hendricks figures out that "Baba Ganoush" can be just as sexy as "dirty b***h" when it comes to pillow talk.

In a conversation that seems like a metaphor for the episode 2 of Season 2, Aimee Gibbs (Aimee Lou Wood), who has decided to be a baker, exclaims to Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) that baking involves sugar, flour, butter and has to be mixed in the right proportion. "Yeah, its called a recipe," snarks Maeve.

The teenage and adult couples on the show are all trying to figure out a recipe that works for their sex lives, and fail miserably. Success all depends, as Tanya (Alice Hewkin) says, on who "your orange is". The insight comes after Otis Millburn (Asa Butterfield) finds out he is not good at fingering Ola  (Patricia Allison) after she starts "actively avoiding" him after he uses his "clock" technique. He demonstrates the gruesome technique on an orange for Tanya, who knows a hopeless case when she sees one.

While Otis and Mr Hendricks, his teacher, both struggle to satisfy their partners, they fail to take Dr Millburn's (Gillian Anderson) advice to "talk about sex, baby" till the very end. Communication is key as this episode points out, in having a satisfying sex life or anything else for that matter. The episode points out the different ways things are resolved when people talk about things honestly vs those with unresolved issues when they don't.

Jackson still hasn't figured out how to communicate with his pushy mother and keeps his worries about his future to himself. Maeve finally figures out she is "not over Otis" but has no way to communicate this. Adam Groff thinks he is finally fitting in, but a miscommunication with his peers gets him chucked out of school and into the hands of his forever disappointed father.

On the other hand, Maeve communicating her fears, of not fitting in, to her teacher gets her selected as the head of the Quiz team while the intense French transfer student with his outspoken questions about gay sex finally helps Eric Effoing (Ncuti Gatwa) realize that he has an admirer on his hands, rather than a "Ted Bundy".

And yes, Otis finally figures out how to improve his under-the-panties technique while Mr Hendricks figures out that "Baba Ganoush" can be just as sexy as "dirty b***h" when it comes to pillow talk.

'Sex Education' Season 2 aired on Netflix on January 17.
