Cory Booker and Rosario Dawson's love story: Here's how meeting at friend's party led duo to move in together
American politicians are busy prepping up either for the presidential elections or senate races. Amidst such tight schedules it is difficult to look after personal life. However, love knows no barriers of time when it comes to Senator Cory Booker and his girlfriend actress Rosario Dawson’s relationship. The two have decided to live together after which Dawson moved into the former presidential candidate's Newark, New Jersey, home.
The 41-year-old actress drove cross-country from Los Angeles this summer to live with her politician boyfriend. The decision comes despite an ongoing pandemic and election season which means the two love birds will be occupied with work. However, them staying together might allow them to be closer than specially taking out time to meet. “We already know we're not gonna get to it until after the election,” Booker told BuzzFeed. “This is the first time in my life I've really lived with somebody — and obviously Rosario and I are enjoying and adjusting to that, right?” he mentioned.
Rightnow, Booker is up for re-election (though running comfortably ahead of his Republican challenger, Rik Mehta). At the same time he is also engaged in attending the Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett. On the other front, Dawson also knows about her boyfriend’s busy schedule. She herself is involved in advocating for various candidates and getting out the vote ahead of the November election. “I think we both realize that this is a ‘batten-down-the-hatches,’ ‘get-to-Nov.-3’ kinda thing," Booker said as reported by Buzzfeed. "So when do they get time for one another? It is probably in the 20 minutes in the kitchen over breakfast or an early dinner after Dawson cooks a meal."
“I have not done that, really, as a bachelor, where I actually sit at a table and just, like, breathe and eat a meal," Booker told BuzzFeed. "And just set a table — I can't tell you how rarely do I set the table as a bachelor, you know, as a guy living alone. So it's just really nice to set a table, have somebody to say grace with, before a meal. It's just those small things really are, I'm finding, incredibly enriching.”
Indeed, Booker adores the way he has been living with Dawson. People reported that the couple had spent months apart due to the Covid-19 but had kept in close contact via FaceTime and daily phone calls. How did the gushing couple meet
Former 2020 presidential hopeful Sen Cory Booker and actress Rosario Dawson had been romancing since October 2018 and officially confirmed their relationship in March of 2019.The couple met at a party in 2018 about which Booker described as reported in Oprah Magazine, "We actually met at a friend of our's that was running for governor of Maryland.” He continued, "Ben Jealous is his name, former head of the NAACP. And we met at that party, and she didn't give me the time of day. She gave me serious shade. But then we re-met at another friend's party. Months later, both of us were single at the time, and it was the roof party of a dear friend, and I had the courage to walk up to her and ask for her phone number."
In just a year, the couple was spotted publicly together. In 2019, Page Six reported twice that Booker and Dawson had been seen together and were also on a date night in New York City. Finally it was in February 2019 that Booker officially confirmed the relationship to the public. "Before I declare president, I'm dating somebody that's really special," he said on radio show, ‘The Breakfast Club’. The couple’s relationship grew stronger in the leap of one year between 2018-19. Dawson adoring Booker said as TMZ reported, "He's a wonderful human being. It's good to spend some time together when we can...I am just grateful to be with someone who I respect and love and admire so much, who is so brilliant and kind and caring and loving."
On the other front, Booker lovingly mentioned about her in the Ellen De Genres show as reported by Oprah Magazine, "She is a deeply soulful person and has taught me a lot of lessons about love already," he said. "I'm very, very blessed to be with someone that makes me a better person." When Booker was a presidential hopeful, Dawson reportedly said supporting him, "It has meant a lot to me to know he’s running for the highest public office in America and he’s still centering us in our relationship and prioritizing, ya know, creating our foundation.” She added, as reported by Oprah Magazine, “It’s the idea that we can show up for anything that we really want to show up for…and it means a lot to me that in the midst of all of that, he’s always showing up for us."
