Singer Selena's extraordinary life will be paid homage to as the second installment of 'Selena: The Series' hits Netflix on May 4. According to a Netflix Synopsis, "Selena: The Series explores her journey from singing small gigs to becoming the most successful female Latin artist of all time — and the years of hard work and sacrifice the Quintanilla family navigated together. "

In the first part of Season 1, actress Madison Taylor Baez portrayed a young Selena exploring her voice. Transitioning to her teenage years and adulthood, actress Christian Serratos takes over, transforming into the Queen of Tejano music with Selena’s signature bangs, hoop earrings and red lip. Part two of 'Selena:The Series' will also focus on how Selena chooses to follow her heart and marries guitarist Chris Perez and how they handle Selena's superstardom as a couple.

Release date

Part two of 'Selena:The Series' will hit Netflix on May 4. While the second installment was initially supposed to release on May 14, it seems that Netflix decided to bring the release date forward.

Air time and how to live stream

The second installment of 'Selena:The Series' airs on May 4th, 2021 at 12:30 pm GMT+5:30. It is available to watch exclusively on Netflix. If you prefer to watch from a mobile device, make sure to download either the iPhone or Android app.

Cast

Christian Serratos

The 30-year-old actor is perhaps best known for her role as Rosita Espinosa on 'Walking Dead'. Serratos had an award-winning turn with her role as Angela Weber in 'Twilight', which won her the 'Young Supporting Actress' award in the Best Performance in a Feature Film category at the 30th Young Artist Awards. 

Serratos was also a part of Twilight's sequels 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' and 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse'. Serratos' other notable role is as Suzie Crabgrass in the Nickelodeon series 'Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide', which ran for three seasons between 2004-2007.

Gabriel Chavarria

Gabriel Chavarria made his big screen debut in 2007 with the film 'Freedom Writers'. His other notable big screen roles have included his performances in 2016's 'Lowriders' and 'War for the Planet of the Apes'. Chavarria also made a mark with his performance as Jacob Aguilar in the Hulu series 'East Los High', which premiered in 2013. In 2018 he had a lead role in the TV series 'The Purge'. In 'Selena: The Series' he plays Selena's older brother A.B. Quintanilla, who is a bass player, songwriter and producer.

Ricardo Chavira

Ricardo Chavira is probably best known to fans for his role as Carlos Solis on 'Desperate Housewives', a role which garnered Chavira three ALMA Award nominations for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. Post 'Desperate Housewives', Chavira reunited with Eva Longoria on Longoria's short-lived show 'Telenovela', besides guest starring roles on several shows such as 'Castle', 'Scandal','Jane the Virgin' and 'Santa Clarita Diet'. In 'Selena: The Series', Chavira plays Abraham Quintanilla, the father of late singer Selena.

Creator and executive producer Moisés Zamora will continue telling Selena’s story alongside most of Selena: The Series cast from part 1

Trailer

The trailer of the second installment of 'Selena: The Series' charts Selena’s journey to superstardom and the price she has to pay for her enormous success. In the trailer, we get to understand however what truly drove Selena. She just wanted to be remembered as someone who gave life her all. Interestingly there is also a blink and you miss it moment where a young Beyonce is seen in awe of Selena, along with mother Tina Knowles.
