Second Alabama police officer gunned down while trying to make an arrest this month
The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Marco Perez, will now face capital murder charges. It was not immediately clear whether Perez fired the shot which killed the officer.
Another police officer from the Alabama police force has been shot dead within the span of a month. The officer, identified as Sean Tuder was, reportedly gunned down while trying to arrest a suspect on Sunday afternoon, according to Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste.
The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Marco Perez, has reportedly been taken into custody and will now face capital murder charges, reports Fox News. Mobile District Attorney Ashley Rich has asked that Perez be held without bond. This charge would make Perez eligible for the death penalty if proved guilty. However, it was not immediately clear whether Perez fired the shot which killed the officer.
