The review contains spoilers for 'SEAL Team' Season 3 Episode 8 — 'Danger Crossing'

Hearts do not hide in the shadows unless they want to be found. Letting your emotions out may not be easy but sometimes it is all you need to do to feel a little better. In this episode, there are major emotional outbursts and it may be the key to finding lost paths.

Titled 'Danger Crossing', it sheds light on relationships that need moving forward — right from Natalie Pierce's (Emily Swallow) help for Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz) to Lisa Davis' (Toni Trucks) big confession for Sonny Quinn (A. J. Buckley) and Clay Spenser's (Max Thieriot) date with Rebecca Bowen (Adelaide Kane).

Struggling with PTSD issues, Jason tells the physiologist Natalie that he isn't going for surgery. She tries to explain how it is his best bet to extend his career but he seems to have made up his mind. Meanwhile, Clay is praised for his work in Yemen and he is told his work is submitted for a bronze medal. "I was just doing my job," he modestly says.

Ray (Neil Brown Jr.) meets his wife Naima Perry (Parisa Fakhri) who tells him, "Being a good friend to Jason doesn't mean putting your own dreams to the back burner." Just as the two are about to get comfortable on the couch, Jason enters with a bottle of booze. Ray’s wife excuses herself while Jason and Ray talk about how he needs to schedule his surgery.

Soon, Jason gets a call from his daughter Emma (Kerri Medders). He then goes to the storage room filled with boxes labeled "family/personal" but isn't quite able to open them. Still in a slump, Sonny shows up at the bar and tries to help Jason out with his decision on his impending surgery. "Kill or be killed," is his bottom line. Later, Jason is woken up by a knock. Natalie tells him she is ready to drive him to surgery. When he suggests taking an Uber, she reminds him nobody will let him be released to a driver on anesthesia.

As Jason goes under the knife, Ray takes over as Bravo 1 and leads the team on a mission to rescue a marine pilot who was shot down in enemy territory. The Bravo Team head out to Iran in barely 30 minutes. Parachuting out of their plane, they hide and slither through the grasslands. They sneak into the campsite and catch a morse code from the soldier named Campbell. A badass who shoots enemies at the drop of a hat, her demeanor impresses the team, especially Sonny who introduces himself to her.

The events then take on a thrilling turn. Under heavy gunfire, they try to make it to exfil. An enemy helicopter flies overhead and aims at Sonny while the rest of the team make it up onto the ridge. Elsewhere, Lisa is worried and wonders if they can send help. Badass Campbell shoots first and saves his life and Sonny can be heard screaming "Best first date ever!"

On the other hand, Natalie brings Jason back to his house and tells him to get proper rest. Just as he lies down, Emma calls again to ask about the records. Jason, gets out of bed in pain, without telling her anything about the surgery. At the storage locker, he stumbles upon a book from Alana. The memorabilia gives him a panic attack and Natalie calls to check on him. She offers to come and get him as she hears his muffled cries over the phone call.

Clay goes for a date with Rebecca. When she probes him too much, he confesses how he is about to get a bronze medal that he thinks he doesn't deserve. We get a bit of romance in the picture too as Lisa bangs at Sonny's door and yells, "You almost got yourself killed. I do not care about your neighbors. I care that you got yourself almost killed." When he teases her, she confesses, "Just because we ended doesn't mean I stop loving you."

After Jason pulls of that stunt in the locker room, it is but obvious that Natalie will be livid. She angrily asks: "Why didn't you call me? Most officers forget the one thing they need to do. How to ask for help." It is here that we see Jason waver a bit as he finally lets his bottled feelings out and says, "When I see the future, I don't see anything. It is all empty. The past is haunting me. I don't know how to stop it. I need help. Can you help me?" After all, there's no surgery to heal the mind.

With just the right mix of action and emotion, episode eight has both heart and soul. The performances, direction, cinematography and the smooth pace of the plot make the hour-long ordeal a marvel to behold. Will Natalie's help sort Jason's troubles? Are Lisa and Sonny finally going to be officially in a relationship? The next episode of 'SEAL Team' needs to answer many questions.
