SDCC 2022: Amazon renews 'The Wheel of Time' for Season 3, fans say this is 'amazing news'
Amazon’s ‘The Wheel of Time’ undoubtedly surpassed all the expectations with Season 1 and turned out to be a gigantic hit for the production company. The first three episodes of the fantasy series premiered in November 2021 and became the most-watched series premiere on Prime Video. Since the series concluded its first edition, fans have been demanding another season of the fantasy show and fortunately, they are going to see it very soon on the streaming platform.
However, the production company has stunned the fans by revealing that the show has already been renewed for Season 3 as well. Yes, you heard it right. The adventures of Lady Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and everyone else will continue to grace our screens for a long, long time. The much-awaited announcement was made during the show’s presentation at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego.

According to Variety, the third season will primarily focus on Robert Jordan’s fourth book, ‘The Shadow Rising’. Showrunner Rafe Judkins shared his excitement about the renewal and said that the entire team is really “thrilled” to work on the third season. He also thanked Amazon for giving him a chance to adapt ‘The Shadow Rising’ as it has been his best favorite book in the ‘Wheel of Time’ series.
“I’m so thrilled that we’ll be making a third season of ‘The Wheel of Time’. ‘The Shadow Rising’ has always been my favorite book in the series, so being able to bring it to television and introduce new audiences to the stories that made me fall in love with these books in the first place is such an honor, and something I’ve been working toward since I first pitched the show years and years ago,” Variety quoted Judkins, as saying.
Fans were really happy with the news of renewal and shared their excitement on social media. One of the fans wrote, “It's so good. one of my favorites. Need to watch it again.” Another fan tweeted, “Yes!!! Amazing, nice show, not the same as the books but good nonetheless.” Another social media user wrote, “This is amazing news.”

I got very used to Netflix cancelling good shows prematurely.
“Really enjoyed the first season so this makes me very happy,” said another one. “Good books! Good show! Glad to see renewed for a season 3!” wrote another user.
The first season received positive reviews from the critics as well as the audiences and racked up about 4.9 billion minutes of viewing time in the weeks it spent on Nielsen’s streaming top 10 charts. This is the second time Amazon has renewed the series well before the premiere of a new season. The production company renewed the show for Season 2 on May 21, six months before the first season’s premiere on the streaming platform.
The show follows the journey of Lady Moiraine, a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, and five young men and women as they embark on a journey filled with magic and darkness. The journey is to find who is the Dragon Reborn and how would he help in making this world a better place. The series saw Rosamund Pike playing the role of Lady Moiraine while Josha Stradowski portrayed the character of Rand’al.

As of now, no release date has been confirmed for Season 2, but behind-the-scene footage shared recently on social media indicates that the announcement of the release date might be arriving soon.
