According to Variety, the third season will primarily focus on Robert Jordan’s fourth book, ‘The Shadow Rising’. Showrunner Rafe Judkins shared his excitement about the renewal and said that the entire team is really “thrilled” to work on the third season. He also thanked Amazon for giving him a chance to adapt ‘The Shadow Rising’ as it has been his best favorite book in the ‘Wheel of Time’ series.

“I’m so thrilled that we’ll be making a third season of ‘The Wheel of Time’. ‘The Shadow Rising’ has always been my favorite book in the series, so being able to bring it to television and introduce new audiences to the stories that made me fall in love with these books in the first place is such an honor, and something I’ve been working toward since I first pitched the show years and years ago,” Variety quoted Judkins, as saying.

The first season received positive reviews from the critics as well as the audiences and racked up about 4.9 billion minutes of viewing time in the weeks it spent on Nielsen’s streaming top 10 charts. This is the second time Amazon has renewed the series well before the premiere of a new season. The production company renewed the show for Season 2 on May 21, six months before the first season’s premiere on the streaming platform.
