After Republican Party asserted that US presidential elections are not being held in compliance with election guidelines arguing over disputed ballots that arrived after Election Day, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has ordered county elections officials in Pennsylvania to keep separate mail-in ballots that arrived after November 3.

The order came on November 6, in response to a plea from the state Republican Party as Democrat challenger Joe Biden inches ahead of President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania in the presidential race. As per reports, Alito, acting on his own, said he was moved in part by the Republicans’ assertion that they can’t be sure elections officials are keeping up with guidance issued by Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar who is a Democrat. Justice Alito who handles emergency appeals from Pennsylvania has ordered a response from the state officials. He has referred the matter to the court for further action.

The order from Alito is related to an ongoing Republican appeal to the Supreme Court to try to keep ballots received in the mail after Election Day from being counted.
Previously, Trump has filed lawsuits in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Michigan regarding purported voting irregularities. However, the sitting president has lost court rulings in the closely contested states of Georgia and Michigan. He has now vowed to bring a new lawsuit challenging purported irregularities in Nevada.

After Republicans seek to block late-arriving mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania and SC justice has acted on it, it has led social media into a frenzy. Some support the action by the justice while others call it a way to hide the "corrupt" and rotting system. Lawyer Shannon Bream tweeted, “Justice Alito has issued an Order than any ballots received after 8pm on election day in PA be segregated and secured - and if counted, counted separately. There is a petition pending before SCOTUS. Alito orders the opposing side to reply by 2p Saturday.”

She continued, “Alito order: ‘... neither the applicant (PA GOP) nor the Secretary has been able to verify that all boards are complying with the Secretary's guidance, which, it is alleged, is not legally binding on them.’” She added, “Many of you have rightly noted that this segregating/securing was already supposed to be happening. PA GOP told SCOTUS today neither it nor the PA Sec of Commonwealth could get all the county boards of election to confirm they were actually complying. Now there's a SCOTUS Order.”

A user said, “It would be a shame if they had to throw them all out. A real shame.” Another was astonished over the move, “Shocking. The level of incompetence sprinkled with corruption rots this whole system from within. Arrests must be made.” A user called the move as chaotic, “It’s not incompetence. It’s organized chaos to make the corruption harder to detect and, if caught, easier to explain away.” A user wrote, “Can't SCOTUS stay out of this?”

A user wrote against Democrat supporters, “Why are all you cheaters worried that the SCOTUS is getting involved? If you are so honest, why is your party fighting so hard to prevent transparency? Funny how when you were concerned about Russian collusion, your party did everything to investigate it.” Another concurred supporting the justice's move, “Stay out of the greatest attempt at election stealing ever!? No thanks. This is their JOB.”
