On January 19, Elwood Community Schools Superintendent Casey Smitherman turned herself in to police after reportedly lying about the student's identity to get him treatment and medicine, according to The Indy Star.
According to an affidavit obtained by the newspaper, the 48-year-old reached out to the student after he did not turn up at school on January 9. He allegedly told Smitherman he was sick with a sore throat, People reports.
